Default QLD to NSW P plates

I'm going to be driving across the boarder to byron bay and the likes in a month or two and I'd just like to triple check a few things.

I'm on my P plates, so I will drive according to my licence, and do the full 110km/h on the highways, if they are of that speed limit, right?

Has anyone copped any attention or been pulled over for this kind of thing? I'd rather keep a low profile.

Also, what are the fines and laws in regards to P plate speeding?

In NSW aren't the laws in regards to P plate speeding extremely harsh? would I lose my licence according to NSW laws, or just get a fine and QLD would determine the demerit points on my licence?

I'm a little bit paranoid at the moment as it seems like it's very harsh over the boarder.

Anyway, I do not regularly speed, but the 4km/h thing has me a bit worried. :-)

I'm on my P2 licence in QLD.

I've just looked and it says 4 points for a NSW p1 or p2 driver, which would mean loss of licence? I think QLD P plates only have 4 points.

If I got caught doing 104km/h in a 100km zone while changing lanes or going down a slight gradient or something I would probably have a psychotic episode.

But yeah, if it is a 4 point penalty (so loss of licence with a 4km/h tolerance) I am almost tempted to take the bus over the boarder.

Just do 100 to be sure. P2 in NSW is 100km/h max speed so best to use their rules just in case.
And display your Ps on the car and you should be right.

Hard to say really, my driving instructor said that we abide by our restrictions not theirs and can do the full speed limit, show plates inside the car etc, Most HWP around the QLD boarder won't bat an eyelid as long as you have QLD plates/licence but go further say Sydney and i know of a few people who have been pulled up for speeding (doing 100 when red P can do 90 max) and got off with a warning.

Theory behind it is it isn't a law as such, just a restriction put on their licence which is not present on ours. Same a P plater from SA or where ever they can drive V8/turbo cars coming to QLD and getting royally you know what'd

Yeah, I am pretty sure you need to abide by the NSW laws and stick to 100k's.
This also includes having P-plates attached to the outside of the car somewhere (not allowed in the windows.)

No, only if you're living there. Us Canberrans got a piece of paper stating that. You have to follow NSW's speed rules as an L-plater though.

I rang them up when I was driving from Qld to Vic and I was told to drive as per your license. So 110k all the way no issues with police at all
