This is the first time i've had a problem that i dont know what to do or look for.
Just this week the rear hatch has been openning/unlocking by itself. I thought it was a once off and must have driven over a bump in the road but then it started doing it every time i drive the car, it even happened when the car was parked and engine was off.  Its as if someone is pressing the release button on the key each time as you can hear it clicking a few times in a row like there is a short in the system??? Any ideas?????

What model Somers?
Maybe it is exactly what you're saying. "As if the key is being pushed'. You key fob might have a short or moisture in it maybe? Do you have two sets of keys. Maybe use the second set and see if it still happens.

Ghosts.
Common Focus problem. Is it only happening when the keys are in range?? It could possibly be a short in the switch or wiring. With all the cruddy weather we've had this week it could be full of water. But it also could be something as simple as a flat battery in your key.

Thanks guys, I will look at trying the spare key first to see if that has any effect.
Model is LX, 2006 LS Hatchback. How easy is it to replace battery in key if it is problem? Does it have to be done by Ford or can it be accessed easily???

Looks like it was a problem with the key as since swapping over to the spare i have not had any problems............. thanks guys,
