Default Fairmont headlight switch in XR6

Hi Fellas, we have an AU1 XR6 VCT that I'm starting to do some mods too.

I saw a Fairmont headlight switch on Ebay, I've always wanted to fit one.

For those who don't know, they have an adjustable auto headlight delay, and also illuminate at night.

Physically, they fit into the dash the same.

Has anybody an idea what is needed wiring wise for it to all function? The Ebay seller claims it will go straight in, I doubt the extra wiring would be present in the loom.

I'm gathering the illumination would be easy, but is the auto headlight delay controlled within the switch itself or is there extra relays etc to add?

I realise the unit may be wired totally differently, thats fine.

Thanks fellas.

BTW nice sub-forum, I'll start a thread soon! Some stunning AUs here!

The auot off is controlled by them BEM so will not work in your XR6. I already have one of those switches and first thing I did was try it in the XR8 (no dice).

i plugged a AU3 forte bem into a AU2 fairmont ghia dash, plugs are the same. but im fairly sure you wont have enough wiring to get everything working, you will lose you dash lights and windscreen washers, and then you probably wont have the wiring from the bem to the switch.

Cable ties will fix your switch.
