Nope, but got close (though way-off compared to those!). There was some space left between the rubber and the guard.

Enough to make the EGAS engine backfire ... LOL

Had just over 2 tonne of floating floorboards on the back of my fiancee's Dad's BA 1-tonner. Took the load well and drove fine ... except on the hills ... mini-backfires all over the place ... LOL

Picking up 380kg worth of Ikea goods one night.... putting them in the back of my partners BA XR8 ute. Car was on the bump stops all the way home. I drove at about 30km/h the entire way.

380kg ... damn .... that's not overloaded ... they can handle about 700kg from memory from factory.

Not after they are lowered they don't handle 380kg.

Don't forget that 700kg is load + petrol + driver

So with a full tank of gas (70L tank ~ 80kg?) plus me as the driver (90kg) + spare wheel (15kg for 18"?) + 380KG of Ikea. Thats 565kg.

Not really. Sometimes when Dad has had about a ton on the back of the Rodeo, the back sits so low, the wheels hit the underside of the tray. It actually wore two holes in the tray!

I've seen a picture of an old Ford Mainline ute as well, with a load of hay on the back and a trailer with another load of hay. The back of the ute is nearly touching the ground! Anyone have that picture?

This last week I've been hauling 240kg in my EL (not including myself ~ 130 kg). I've acquired some retaining wall blocks from a guy at work so I've been taking them home 16 at a time: 4 in the front passengers footwell, 6 on the back seat on a piece of carpet and 6 in the boot.

It makes the car fully sick low, handle like a barge and the gearbox doesn't like it much, but meh.

Dad overloaded the old Econovan by 100kg once when he was a courier.. 1500kg payload, he had 1600kg in the back... no problems. Probably could've put more too, didn't phase the van at all... was a tough thing.

Ah, carrying stuff- one of the great things about having a family-sized domestic with torque.
I've never overloaded the wagon, heaviest was probably bringing home a few heavy upgrades to the gym, most packed was driving three passengers, luggage, and an entire drum kit 100km to the back end of whoop-whoop. Try doing that with a sedan/ute/2-door import

ive had a heavy duty dual axle car trailer (rental) on the back of the ZL Fairlane, down hill+wet=IM NOT STOPPING FOR NO-BODY. also had a 1400kg car on the same trailer as well and it didnt bottom out. brakes were shyte and the tranny didnt like it one bit when i was trying to go up hill (actually had to stop and let the car cool down).
but still could have handled more weight (with a tranny cooler)

The BA XR8 is rated at 535kg max. I've calculated that my load of sleepers and concrete would have been a conservative minimum of 800kg.

Consumate cruisemobile, dumped to the ground and burbling along.

I have carried over a ton in my XLS ute as well ... working as a courier ... bloody printers ... full pallet of paper is damn heavy ... also had a skid behind it with a diesel motor on it ... and packed with other boxes around it.

The rear was sagging quite a bit ... steering was very light too ... but it still drove OK ... a little slower than normal ... but the ol' EGAS motor coped fine.

Yeah my Territory can handle load with ease ... especially when loaded up for interstate horse shows ... 3-horse angle load ... full loaded ... 1 driver ... 4 passengers ... back full of luggage ... equipment/saddles/horse feed ... you name.

Sometimes i don't realise I am towing anything at all.

My ute on the other hand though wouldn't be able to handle that much though.

In the EF sedan, took out the back seat and loaded about 12 retaining wall blocks on the floor and where the seat was on top a tarp, then on top of that, 4 bags of readymix. In the boot, from the back of the back seat, up against the speakers to the top of the bootlid, filled with heavy *** pavers. The thing was on bump stops before the pavers were loaded. Drove past some of the VL boys and damn did it get some looks.

I once saw an XD stopped at the lights, with a trailer holding what looked like at least a ton and a half of bricks... This XD was so low at the rear it wasn't funny... lights went green then "bang" the rear end just dropped to the ground... Not exactly sure what happened to it though

Here's an example of stupid:

A small/medium 4 cylinder car with a 3000 lb load on the roof and in the car.

lol every now and then I see how much fuel mine uses compared to my friend's 1.8/2.0 econocars, see how slower it takes off compared to the sportscars of people my age, how slower it corners compared to imports, but when you have four comfortable passengers with the boot so packed you have rear view mirror tank-vision, it seems worth the disadvantages eh
You're seriously saying your ute can handle less than the Territory? It must have higher gearing, being the same engine and more weight(?)...

Is it my imagination, or is the chassis bending (note the door lines)?
