Default Mixing oils

I have 5w30 castrol edge in my car ATM. Is it bad if I top it up with 10w50 Valvoline synth power?

Not to sure on the mixing of oil grades.
Thanks

I asked Mobil and they said yes

edit: as for grade mixing which is what you actually asked, I would have no problems with it as a once off leading up to your next oil change.

agree with ronwest. as a top up, it will be fine leading up to your next oil change. Ive done this a couple of times Damien.

The addition of slightly heavier oil wont be a problem as once mixed it merely brings the main body back to where it should be or very close , I have been running more of my motors including the lawn mower on hydraulic fluid for years at no detriment , the mowers had done thousands of hours and still burn the same amount
