Hi All,
Mate of mine sent me this link from Unique Cars mag, a buyer's guide for the RS2000: http://www.uniquecarsmag.com.au/news...eid/70865.aspx They seem to reckon the Mk 2 sedan Rallye Pack is extinct? News to me, I own a GL Rallye Pack which seems to be the pick of the bunch, according to the guide I think they took a look at the RS Owners Club website & thought that "if they're not in here, they mustn't be anywhere." So, how many people here actually own a genuine Mk 2 Rallye Pack Escort? Are they really in danger of becoming extinct? |

a fairly basic article. there are a few rally packs still about, but they are rare. i used to own a cracking orange version. mine also had the "ESCORT' logo on the seats. not sure f this was standard or an option. selling that is the biggest car regret i have :-(

Technically....There's no such thing as a "genuine" Rally Pack.
Unlike the RS2000s or The Sundowners, they didn't have a model number. They were your basic GL with an options pack, which could include anything from just a sports steering wheel, right up to the full stripe kit, spoilers, driving lights, and sports suspension. I've owned a couple of "Rally Packs" over the years. My current Flat front Mk 2 is a bit of a Homage to them. I've fitted side stripe (Orange - which was never an option) quarter bumpers and I have some spoilers to fit in the future. Unfortunately, a Zetec motor wasn't an option at the time....Unlike mine. |

I have the article in the whole mag, not well written as they have shots of 1 of 25 imports not the aussie one, then goes on to talk about the aussie vesion and even the import one has been heavily modified. not showing a true picture.

The only problem i have with this artical is the part about the ghia's seats.
they don't seem unsupportive to me as a matter of fact there proberbly some of the most comfortable seats I've sat in thay includes my house mates BF MK2 futura and the old man's VS Calis.
