Yeah would have been 3.45 for the XR6 (and Fairmont Ghia) and good old 3.08 for most of the others.

my car (ef gli) benefited quite a bit going from 3.08 to 3.45.
LSD is much better to drive compared to SS too.

As far as i know EFII Fairmonts came with 3:23 single spinners and that the 3:45 gears were a $250 option from factory (Fairmont).

i know 'lsd' was an option for the fairmonts, but it was a 3.23 LSD (or 3.27?)
i dont beleive the 3.45LSD was a standard option for the fairmonts.

I went an EA 5 speed in my EF GLi which has a 3.08. Big mistake. Means I either stall or spin. Really sucks, cause I don't want to destroy clutches and tyres all the time but hate looking like a foool when i stall.

Maybe I'm just a crap driver. But, I do find it pretty easy to stall. I've owned plenty of manuals and never struggled. I suppose the hardest time to get it right is trying to launch quickly. It is very difficult to leave the mark smoothly. I either break into massive wheelspin or I bunnyhop slightly.

Do double check your tyre pressures, this can be a major factor with traction issues. Other than that it just takes practise to give a healthy dose of revs yet be slow on releasing the clutch.
