Default my fitness pal

hey all
starting a "get a bit fitter, loose a it of weight, drink less" campaign at the moment ie running, no alcohol and watching what i eat.

ive ran the tan 2 sundays in a row (and enjoy it) when the mate i run with suggested using my fitness pal to observe what i eat and how much i should be eating.

does anyone else use this program/app and has it helped, or is it another big "fitness fad"

Yeah, I used it. Pretty good for what it costs, you just need to be honest about what you put in.

mate, first up good on you for having the intestinal fortitude to (1) recognise that you have a problem and (2) be willing to do something about it

whatever motivates you to do what needs to be done can only be a good thing

well done you!

I use it all the time.

I have a heart rate monitor and always record the calories burned during my exercise vs the food intake. It's great because:
1) you have to track what you eat
2) you get to see the kind of progress you are making and shoul dbe making.

JUST BE HONEST WITH IT

www.myfitnesspal.com

it can be used as an app (as far as i know) and i think it is for both android and apples. also found on the internet.

its an exercise/food diary that calculates food intake and exercise to give u calories consumed and burned ect.

you punch in your details ie weight and height and then your ideal weight and it tells you what u need to do to accomplish it.

thanks for the words of encouragement, ill keep people up to date. not wanting to loose heaps (only 5kgs) but get healthy fit.

I need a app that can detect whenever I stick a ciggy in my mouth. One that will slap me across the back of the head too.

I've been using MFP for a while now, although, now I dont bother logging what I eat as I have trained myself to eat properly and check calories. Weight loss so far, 19kg, still have a bit to go, but it has made a huge difference in me.

I just use Endomondo to track my workouts. Good stats and graphs and good social network integration.

Hey guys,

About early november 2011, I decided to change my diet and increase my exercise. I weighed 97kg (im about 5ft10) at that time. I now weigh 85kg (3months later) and still losing wieght. All i did was:

- Always eat breakky
- eat 5-6meals a day (I have breakfast lunch and dinner, then snacks between)
- no carbs after 3pm
- Joined a gym and do wieghts and cardio everytime

The big mistake people make is when they don't eat carbs at all. After 5 days of no carb eating, your body goes into "starvation mode" and thus slows your metabolism due to no energy intake. This is why you will feel lethargic on the no carb diets. When you resume eating normally after these diets, you will pack the wieght back on, and then some as your metabolism is too slow to process all the food again.

My diet is usually:

Breakky:
2 Weetbix and a banana
or
2 pieces of toast, with egg or jam
or
similar

Lunch:
Carbs and Protein

Dinner:
Protein and Veggies

Snacks:
Fruits, yoghurts, nuts etc

The carbs in the morning starts your metabolism and gives you energy and the protein at night keeps you full till the morning.

I eat more now than i used to, and never actually feel hungry. I have also cut "junk" food such as Maccas, KFC, pizza, fried foods etc and soft drinks. But in saying that, every now and then I will eat these foods, just not often.

My fitness has increased dramatically and i feel better than ever. Playing oztag and soccer has been much more enjoyable for me, and my performance has increased.

I am not saying this is 100% correct but this is what has worked for me.
