AWESOME! is 4000 Total HP? or for EACH engine?

I work full time on the Queenscliff Manly ferry.
not sure of size in litre's.. huge probably!! engine is 3 mtre's tall and about 5.5 metres long.
turbo unit is 80cm across (outer housing)
Straight 8 turbo diesel. x2
3000 Hp at a mind numbinng "V tec just kicked in YO! 600RPm.
15.5 knots top speed on 1 engine.
18 knots on both engines.
Weight of the manly ferry is 1000 tonnes. or 1000 hyundai excells!. lol

Both engines running means slightly more pitch on the proppeller and 20 more prop RPM's per min.

I work at ARB 4WD Accessories in the Polyurethane section. I enjoy it, and even after over 2 years there, I'm still learning new skills!

As for working on cars, I've done all the bodywork related stuff and limited mechanicals but at this point in time my motivation to work on cars is nearly non-existant.

Same with me, I really REALLY wanted to be a Mechanic as soon as I got my licence, which is 17 in WA where I grew up, I looked around, had a few interviews mainly at Holden dealerships, but then mum dad & my three younger brother moved to Gold Coast so I couldn't afford to live in Perth if I was a Mechanic, but I got into sales and I really enjoy it!

I probably wouldn't want to be a mechanic full time anymore, it would take the fun and experience out of working on your car on the weekend because you do it day in day out, but that's my opinion.

I don't know what I do anymore...
- Public Relations
- Motoring Journalist
- Copywriter (marketing, SEO, commercial)
- t-shirt sales
- online editor
- web project manager

I'm a bit of everything these days - I think the only thing missing is renting my a%*se out for money, although sometimes it certainly feels like I do.

I fell into a career due to my unusual educational background.

I started out as a physics major, but—surprise!—that proved difficult. I was struggling mightily in physics (and calculus), but I was taking English lit courses as electives and making straight A's.

I thought of adding a minor in English, but my advisor told me that the school had just started offering a new type of English degree, the Writing and Editing Option.

So rather than dropping physics as a major, I added English. I got more serious about studying, and because of the way certain courses were only offered in certain semesters, it allowed me to slow down my course load. I graduated with a B.S. in physics and a B.A. in English.

To earn some extra money, I signed on to the school newspaper. I quickly became the chief copy editor. We had production nights three nights a week, and those were often very late nights.

I was still much stronger in English than physics, however, and you can't really get a job as a physicist with a bachelor's degree.

My first professional job was as an editorial assistant for a physics journal, but then I had the opportunity to relocate to Florida to become an editor for a defense contractor.

That is mostly what I have done since, and I usually work on proposals for new contracts. We often work really long hours (including weekends and holidays). My school newspaper experience has come in very handy!

Edited version: I work as a proposal editor for a defense contractor.

i work in plastic injection moulding, rainwater/septic tanks, guttering drainage, agricultral tanks, stormwater pits and many many other little bits and peices, the most notable product we make is the blue dairy farmers milk crate that everyone usually has seen and stolen lol, we made around 295,000 last year and we are taking on another contract making the green milk crates for the corrective services/jails and the black milk crates for some other company
as for my cars i do as much as i can but pay my mechanic who i have known for a long time (he and all the wrench monkeys there are rev heads with a hotted up cars and his dad was a mechanic for a heap of the old liverpool speedway cars, there workshop was predomitly a performance workshop up until around 15 years ago)

I've been in the Army for the past 4 and a half years... Information Systems Technician (IT Stuff, more or less)

As for working on cars, well... I don't really trust myself to do it! I check things like oil, coolant etc... i'm not really mechanically minded (but i'm not exactly a dumbass either) I just don't want to screw anything up... i'll leave that to the professionals

plus, that'd take time away from me building and playing around with pc's and other bits and pieces

In my third week of my grad position as a piping engineer, working predominantly in oil and gas. So far, I've done nothing engineering, except check material specs, and write a lot of documents. It's pretty fun though.

As for the cars, I do a bit myself, the other half is a mechanic, so he does a bit more, and then what he's not confident with (like egas systems), I take somewhere else. We should have my panel van up here soon, so I'll be able to play a bit more. Time to rebuild the 253 *waits to have bottles thrown in her direction*
