Question Plasma Engine, 2800rpm 426.50hp.....??

This engine uses a plasma ball to create mechanical energy.
The ions formed have the same charge, repel from each other, and push the piston down.
Under the "Docs, reading and patents" tab it shows the incredible power stats.
The 1000 cc engine has 800 torque from 10 to 2000K rpm. Flat torque!
At 2800rpm the HP output is 426.50. 2800rpm * 800= 2,240,000/5252=426.50.
As light as it is the two cylinder engine is, it would be way more power than most of us need.
http://plasmerg.com/index.html
They are selling licenses for manufacturers now. Unlimited license is
"Major manufacturers -- License is $200,000. Application fee is $20,000
- Companies currently making engines or products - expected rate of over 10,000 per Month, per engine type, plus a per engine Royalty. "

Engine only uses a nobel gas, and no fossil fuel. Needs to be recharged in 4-6 months because of leakage. They are working on creating a better seal.

Great website, love the picture of the engine at the bottom.

I suppose payment is by way of Western Union.

...erm...

"Doesn't use any fuel", and "taking nothing from the atmosphere and putting nothing back in", and "creates no discernible heat"...sorry, but if there's work going on, it needs to be fuelled by something that is consumed and converted to another form. If you have metal working, it will get hotter and hotter unless lubricated and/or cooled by some system.

...sounds awfully like a perpetual motion device to me...sorry, but in this universe you don't get something for nothing...

Perpetual motion or energy doesn't exist, impossible, closest thing is fusion. I would love to see a fusion powered car but one car accident could mean the end of the world haha.

Got to put something in to get something out, rules of the universe, sounds like bs to me!

It's funny people are hesitant about running around with dangerous fuel systems, forgetting they are carrying 20-60 litres of highly explosive petrol, in a metal box, right under their rear seat... I don't think a mini fusion reactor would be much more dangerous, it's not like a fission reactor where you are carrying around a load of enriched uranium (aren't we glad we didn't go down THAT path?)

I can't see the link from here, will have to check it out when I get home. But are they really saying it runs on nothing? The idea doesn't make much sense to me, but I'd assume, being a "plasma engine" it'd be a concept for an electric engine?

Nope...

The idea of a plasma engine is, electicity is used to create a reaction, in which the gas expands, when the charge is removed, it shrinks.

Its not perpetual motion of sorts, as it still needs an electric charge, but the engine can supply the charge its self.

Noble gas engines are starting to gain favor in the world, but the technology is still new, and sketchy.

Keep in mind, for over 2 centuries, the idea of an Internal Combustion engine was constantly worked on, until Otto created what we basically have today...

Technically, yes, but not without the pre-cursor fission explosion to kick-start the fusion process into all its hydrogen-y-ka-boom-y goodness so as far as a nuclear powered car goes you'd be "OK"

I'd be more worried about having 3 heads coming out my left butt cheek than the fission reactor going off!

As for this new Plazma engine thingo, ANYONE asking $200,000, let alone $20 should at least have a website that doesn't look like someone threw a bunch of ideas to Michael J Fox with a CSS style sheet and an etch-a-sketch.

How? The gases are not consumed, so where does the energy to repeatedly generate the plasma come from? For the engine to generate its own plasma AND propel a vehicle, with NO chemical alteration of the fuel source, it is by definition a perpetual motion engine.

Internal combustion is based on sound science. Big difference.
