Heres how i did it-
Make sure you use really big cable (like welding cable). Alot of the relocation kits around use fairly small cable that isn't really up to the job. Run it straight onto the starter motor positive. Get a terminal block and mount it in the engine bay where the battery used to be, then connect all the stuff that used to be connected to the positive terminal to it. In effect you are using the old starter motor power cable to run the accessories. I earthed mine on the body in the spare-wheel well (battery is in the spare wheel well). Seems to work well, I don't have any earthing problems. - John |

yep john has picked up on a good point, you need a decent cable running through.
i earthed mine to the body/sub frame just near where the bumper bolts go through from inside the boot

Same as I did used heavy welding lead and got good ends cramped onto it. Just earth it onto the body inside the boot somewhere. Ran an extra earth from where the starter bolts on, onto the body as well.

yeah nice big fat cable is the way to go. use cruddy small one and ull be dissapointed, if u wanted to set up a kill switch type thing, run a small constant wire (from batt +) to ur radio to remember all the stations, then have a solenoid between the battery and the starter, will kill the car completly so no one could do anything

Look at getting 0/1guage atleast. The wire should be ATLEAST as thick as a garden hose

dan you've seen it, it aint small but im still concerned about it dropping voltage. i bought it from sprints, its made by narva i think and it was under the truck battery cables i think, cant exactly remember how many amp meters it was suppose to support but 300 comes to mind.
tufed6 - the guy who rewired my engine bay already done everything you just said, and told me to run the wire off the starter motor to the boot. i got the earth strap were the rear bar bracket bolts in through the floor next the rh tail light, is that good enough? were did you get the welding wire from? and how much did it cost? Thanks Ehab

Putting the battery in the boot means adding weight to the car, hence large copper runs from front. Copper is heavy to compensate for the 400 cranking amps you need to get to the other end. Plus I put it in a marine battery box so it doesn't rot whatever it sits on. I think the only reason you'd want to put it in the back would be if you had run out of room in the front. What are you trying to do?

check out the pics... no room in the engine bay. plus the battery is in a box that has been drilled to the floor of the boot behind the rh tail light.

Nice setup! Yeah i used to have a prob where the car would take about 4 goes to actually start. Definately voltage drop. Do exactly what Tuffed says....we did that to sunny's car and it worked a treat. And I'd suggest getting a circuit breaker or fuse of some sort to go at the battery end of the cable.....don't want the car going up in flames if that garden hose cable shorts out.

I earthed mine with 10mm wire at boot and 50mm welding cable to bolt at rear of gearbox and another 10 mm strap from there to body, also used original earths up front..I crimped all my wires together up front with heat shrink over them using 50 mm sq again as active wire....The brakets from the front where transfered to boot where it holts battery down as it did under bonnet..I'll soon be fabricating an alloy battery box...
This cable is that heavy it won't burn!! It'll flatten battery ... Being a Lineworker helps as I have access to crimping tools and lags etc....

I ran 50mm2 welding cable on mine to the starter. 2G runs the audio and 75mm2 grounds the battery.
It starts my car no prob's. I also habe 50mm2 from chassis to trans and another chassis to engine.

I used the thickest guage stuff autobarn had in my EB. I think it was 2 guage. From the battery to a distribution block in the engine bay which had eveything that the old postive terminal had on it.
The ground was just the same size cable from the negative to the metal supports in the boot. I lost 0.5 of a volt. The car still started and ran like normal.
