Default Lowering Blocks

Hey brothers,

When i first purchased my EF five years ago it came with lowering blocks fitted on the *** end of my wagon which has leaf springs. Since i have never driven another EF wagon without lowering blocks i was curious as to if it affects handling at all. What are the known con's and pro's in regards to lowering blocks? BTW i can't just get rid of them and lower it normally as the gas (LPG) tank is situated close to the ground as it is and GSR sports strutts have been an option for me but at $500 a pair i think i'd rather spend the $ on performance mods.

Cheers.

Phil.

hey

i think lowering blocks are illegal but wouldnt effect the handling, to lower wagons all you need to do is undo the bolt in the middle of the spring and drop the smallest leaf off, this will make the ride alot smoother.

That's what i was about to say, hehe. Thay are definately not illigal. Thanks for the input. What options do i have to lower the front a little? ATM i have brand spanking new 4x Pedders comfort gas shocks. I don't wan't to lower it too much at the front because when i go camping it will be a pain in the A$$. Can you just change the front springs without changing the strutts?

BTW bushes are all brand new and a new camber and castor kit was installed 1.5 years ago. I know buggerall about springs and lowering, that's why i'm asking.

Cheers.

But they should be!

They change the geometry of the suspension. Handling is not the same, even if you think it is.
I ran them briefly on my XE and after getting the springs reset the car handling was amazing.

This is correct, lowering blocks allow a huge amount of axle wind up which causes sever bump steer.

Resetting and adding a leaf is the best way.

Rick.
