Just curious as to what kind of 1/4 mile times I would be getting in my EBII Fairmont with the following specs:
- 2.5" exhaust - Pacemaker extractors - Wade 1004 - 112 cam - 3.27 LSD diff - XH Snorkel and K&N filter - Auto transmission The reason I'm asking is that I'm yet to do a few of these mods and I'm after a rough figure of the time I could achieve. Any comments, help or suggestions would be much appreciated. |

A shift kit should make a 15 very achievable.

Dont shift kits generally hinder your QTR time if you get alot of wheel spin or squealing, other hen that, nice list and should be looking in the 15's.

Perhaps; the shift kits I've seen seem to shift insanely roughly under all circumstances. In theory it would be possible to speed up shifts without the discomfort or the wheelspin of this type of shift kit. My time has not yet come to researech this.

- Wade 1004 - 112
- Pacemaker extractors If I got enought cash 3.45s or 3.7s. Any other suggestions? What would a 5 speed bring my times down to? |

3.45 from 3.27 actually made me .1 slower down the quarter, I put it down to the shift into 3rd just before the finish.

Low 16s would be the best you would get from a stock auto, bloody fun finding out though.

my EF ran 16.1 with 3.45 but otherwise stock .. with the above mods.. 15's should be acheivable!

Yer, i'd say very low 16's or very high 15's.
A manual tranny would bring it down to probably low 15's.. |

Can someone please explain, if I changed my diff to a 3.45 instead of 3.27 and changed the speedo sender to suit the 3.45 diff, why would it affect my performance?

That wouldn't really be a substansial improvement, though if you had a taller stock ratio or were thinking about a shorter one to replace it with, it would be.
These engines like to have a few revs before they give their best, and with a taller (stock) diff you have to 'wait' until the engine has those revs on board before it performs well. Personally I'd rather address an inefficient driveline before pumping more power through it. |

So if I put the 3.45 ratio in to replace my 3.27 and don't change the speedo sender, my speedo reads incorrect but the car goes quicker? Is that what you mean?
