Dropping the temp also increases the air density. Cars with a drag coefficient as high as the FG would need more than a couple more kilowatts to make the speed. It was only 2 years ago that the GT500 cracked 200MPH. It has a butt load more power, and a better drag coefficient.

Did the GTF track straight at 297kph? Massive improvement since BA if it did. However, once spotted a video of a guy in a turbocharged TF magna hit 3 ton on that same highway in NT (not sure if genuine vid, but looked legit) and still manage to keep it straight at that speed.

I think Bowe said it was barely controllable at that speed. (in the magazine article)
