From what ive seen the typhoon intake is a stainless pipe made up to fit each specific car, and it has just a normal exposed pod filter element on it.
Everyone knows the whole story about hot air being bad blah blah.

The apollo is a pod filter completely enclosed in a heat resistant polypropylene case with a single 70mm inlet with a special 1meter flexible hose (comes with it) that hooks into the casing. So then you run that down to where you want your air to come from.

Basically it means that absolutely no hot engine bay air is sucked in, all the cold air is rammed in from the front lower grille.
Hopefully ill still get a bit more induction roar, and it should lift performance slightly

sounds good. so its kinda like a pipercross intake then?

I have a typhoon sitting here which im not going to put on. Not because i dont think it'll work, but cos I wanna sell it and use the $ to finance some other mods first.

Yeah pretty much like the pipercross. but the piper is carbon fibre.

But its also like triple the price, and on such a small engine i doubt thered be much difference between the k&n and piper.
