Hey people, as some of you may know i have a mk2 2 litre escort. It basically has all the engine mods you can do (Lumpy cam etc etc) except for dual carbies. I'm not sure whether to buy some side-drafts because they aint cheap (everyones asking roughly $1000) so im assuming it must increase power lots, but how much exactly? Are they worth the dough?
Does anyone know what sort of increase in performance i would get if i buy a set? Any help is appreciated, cheers Sam M. |

I have a set of dual 40mm weber carbs at home that I intend to put on my 2ltr pinto as well.
We have spoken to some mechanics about the carbies and a lumpy cam and have been quoted 140-150hp (this includes extractors) If anyone has anything different to this I would like to know! macca |

You'll get between 10-20 HP from sidedraughts...
Fuel consumption is horrible with them unless you get the distributer recurved though. |

It really does depend on your state of tune and how the car is set up. You might want to get your car tuned on a dyno to get the most out of what you've got before investing in a set of twin webers.

dissy recurve and everything spot on you will use more fuel , my old 2 litre did more than 200 clicks, revved to around 7200rpm in top! The carb looked standard but was taken out everywhere inside it , had ИИИИloads of torque but also used more fuel than standard. Wrber off a Falcon didnt give as good results

all the bottom end was balanced , billet cam , good extractors and it was also in the days of SUPER fuel , ran about 11-1 compression. Sounded good , went awesome.
But bang for buck am going an SR20DEVCT for now, turbo comes later. |
