Actually, Matt does raise an interesting point. The ability to run a business does have an effect on the running of a club as it is much the same, only without much income on the club side of things.

I will be happy to back whoever takes the position as I am sure that we all want the same thing and that is a well run club with keen and excited members. I look forward to finding out who it will be.

Ah I say BS. :togo:

I dont know EFFALCONS background, but I dont think he runs a business but does a fine job of running the e series club, same goes for trouty.

Plus you have alot of people whom you can reffer to here if you need help.

And guys, try and keep your subtle stabs at people out of the discussion, that is just as immature as anything else.

Who is the subtle stab aimed at? I actually thought everyone here so far has pretty much agreed with each other about nominations...

I made no subtle stabs, so, if you felt I pointed one, I'm sorry for your misinterpretation. As for there being no similarities between running a club and running a business, I call BS.

At no point did I say that people who don't currently run their own business can't run a club. I said, people who can run businesses can run clubs. Running a club is much like running a business. Now, I have now knowledge of EFFalcon's ability to run a club, but, Polyal, if his ability to run a club is as you say it is, then I'm sure he will do well running a business.

Anyway, as previously mentioned, perhaps we should keep on the topic of nominating reps. Do we have any idea when we will start/finish voting?

Re read 347's post, but I dont want to start a sh|t fight over what is hopefully an old arguement. Perhaps I am a little over sensative...lol

I just didn't want people to think that running a business is a pre-req, experience can be found in alot of other ways.

Not that I am even in QLD, but a min of two rep's would make sense, its a big state.

Polyal, you actually raise a good point. 2 reps, not both from Bris sounds like a good idea. I'm not sure how many members we have further north but, I know that there are a few here in the burra, and many other potential members. Not wanting to nominate myself or sound like I am trying to, but perhaps a rep from this area, or even further north in Bundy or something. That way, more cruises can be had in this area. The only reason I don't attend cruises is because it costs me about $70 in fuel if I don't do any driving while on the cruise.

What do others think of this matter?

My vote goes to Matt - 347 Stroker

Nobody and I mean nobody knows the E-Series vehicle like Matt and I would challange anybody to dispute that fact.

My only concern is that there is two parts to the QLD section to be honest. Brisvegas clan and anyone around the Gold Coast.

I'm hardly going to be driving my 5L up to Aspley just for a chinwag at any stage to be honest - so when organising events, please consider Gold Coasters

There is a group of us that regularly meet on the Gold Coast - Saturday nights (to make it fair on one person, so he doesn't always drive up to us)..
If you are interested in catching up, please feel free to do so... We are a hard bunch to miss e

If your meets on the GC on a Saturday night have anything to do with the Broadwater or places like that, you'll be counting me out. I don't fancy being open prey for defect notices..

Blackout, I don't want to sound harsh, but that is a fairly narrow view there. Given the GC is only about an hour from Brisbane(depending where in GC and where in bris). If I lived on the GC I would hapily drive the distance to bris for a chinwag. I live 2.5 hours north of Bris,so it is a big deal for me to drive that far, mainly due to fuel costs. Which is my point with having a rep up North.

Again, I don't want to sound harsh, but I think an hour drive is a poor excuse for not attending and event. I have driven to the Gold Coast, which is about 4 hours, for the last cruise I attended. Was an excelent time and I will do it again when I can afford it.

We have never ever been hassled by the police.. you will only get a defect notice if your car is unroadworthy, and you will only get looked at if you are being silly..

Yes we are at the BWCP and not one of us has ever had police problems.. park with us, you will be fine.. lol

The only people who have problems with police are people who break the law. I have parked at BWCP a few times and have never had a problem. As my mum taught me when I was young - Police Officers are your friend.

As far as I can tell, there have been no new nominations so this thread has run its course. Please give us a couple of days to set up anonymous and secure voting for Qld members.

I originally wanted to await Lukey's response before going ahead with this, but have been left with no choice but to give him a PM of explanation and a chance to voice his opinion if he receives it in time.

As for dividing Qld into 2, I would personally prefer to focus initially on Brisbane where the majority of members are. If there is still demand for a northern Qld rep then we will take that on board.

A final point to make is that if any candidates have had serious run-ins with AFF or E series rules, the board can vote against their nomination. If this happens, a full explanation will be provided and we will answer any criticism. This is being discussed by the Board right now.

I would thank people to not jump to conclusions. We are in discussion and weighing up our options. We want 100% open voting which reflects the voice of the members, but some nasty stuff has gone down and we do not want the Club to be dragged down in anyone's personal issues. Please do not speculate because the decision is not finalised.

One thing I will say is that if anyone wishes to nominate themselves or anyone else as a Brisbane rep (over and above the existing 4 nominations), it is by no means too late to do so.

Thank you.

Well, since we are short of nominations, I will nominate another friend of mine being GreenMachine. I have seen first hand his ability to organise an awesome cruise, and, although it wasn't solely E-Series, I think that his new-found dedication to such cars and his love of Fords in general should put him well and truly in the running.

I think it is fairly obvious that QLD needs a rep that can stand up and rise to this challenge. It should be someone who knows their stuff about this model of vehicle and also someone that can help, guide and give recommendations to newer members.

This person should be picked on what they have to offer the club as a whole, not based on who upset who on the forums in the past.

This person should be picked by the people in their area that they will look after not by a bunch of “board members” interstate who have no real idea on who the person is except for their public persona on a forum. We live in Qld and we know these people and who they are and what they are capable of…. it should be our choice who represents us.

I feel your pain Lukey. It is sad when people question the goodwill of senior members who have put in immeasurable effort over the years. Nonetheless, you can be proud of what you have achieved over the past few years, and confident that the good work will be carried on by the new Rep. I can take much of the blame that the situation in Queensland reached this stage, but from now I would only like to focus on being as constructive as possible as we strive to get things where they should be.

The task of the rep has not changed in many years, and I don't see why it should. It involves tasks like arranging meets, promoting events, raising any concerns to senior members, controlling behaviour and so forth. Voters will be asked to judge the candidates based on this criteria.

The issues concerned are by no means limited to the forums. If we didn't believe they are a serious concern for the Club as a Qld division and as a whole, why would we even raise the issue?

If you do not understand the difference between controlling questionable nominations and dictating the position, I cannot explain it in simpler terms. If you have zero interest in the national Club as a whole, I suggest making a dedicated Queensland E series club of your own. Every decision we make is based on the balance of national/forum interests, and those concerned with individual states and their events.

Because it is going in circles, I am going to lock this thread and invite anyone with constructive suggestions, or nominations for candidates to contact myself or other Board members via PM.

For those members with a desire to set new standards for the Qld division of the Club, stay tuned for the positive changes on their way. Updates and instructions for voting will be posted shortly.
