Yeah I've recently serviced 2 of my AU falcons, and managed to find the last bottle or 2 of TQ95...
Having looked around, it seems the answer is going to be using Dex3 with Lubegaurd, or some other brand... Now, interestingly it seems Hitec oils do a oil for the BTR... https://hi-tecoils.com.au/product/atf-type95/ But it seems that you need to buy from a dealer, not a retail outlet.. Has anyone had any luck with Hitec? |

I sent a question on this to Unique Cars Magazine tech section and they gave me the Penrite oil sector option. No more TQ95 is a pain in the backside if you just want to top up as mixing fluids is against recommendations.

hi
Many transmissions have dedicated fluids . Most trans changed fluids in the design stage or very early usage . Most were concerned with gear shifting harshness or slipping and effects on durability . Shift characteristics can be influenced by valve body and clutch material . In 80`s thru 90`s specific fluids were used to fix issues even on car of the year. Donot believe for a moment car makers will notcheap out there own vehicles . Ever seen FULL SIZE Sims waste bins full of transmissions I have . Oh yea there are /have been factory w/shops doing warranty exchange units That trans was using Castrol Factory filled fluid warranty fluid Public released fluid |

TQ95 was developed for the EF version of the BTR 4spd after all. Previous to that in the EB and ED they ran dexron III. I'm sure the TQ95 helped the EF, EL, AU, but things have progressed (and no, they didn't help the BA because that was built cheaper under ION so the trans was weaker anyway) E: Or was it DSI? Regardless the last decent one made was an AU one. E: Appreciate OP wants to stock up and are warning others. But late model ones are a ticking time bomb anyway due for a rebuild. Ford was the first 4 Speed BTR equipped Ford car registered and licensed in Australia my prototype August 1989 made NB Fairlane. Doubtless one expects there were earlier unregistered test mules and the like. In any event TQ95 was developed by Ford and Castrol in conjunction with the transmission. There may also have been an earlier version of the ATF as "TQ85" appears in some handbooks and it is unclear if this was just a misprint or evidence of an earlier version of this fluid and truth is probably now lost in history.

Can you use Dexron VI in these things without any adverse effects? Thats what I use in my 4L60E, which is apparently OK as DX VI exceeds the standard of DX III.

Interesting Lubegard say the BTR transmissions were also found in Mitsubishi Magna from 1988, Maseratti 3200GT and Daewoo Musso. Model #’s include M85LE, M91LE & M95LE. I wasn't aware the Magna had a BTR trans. Did it?

Been sitting here for more or less two days trying to think of a stupid sex joke about how the tranny's are getting upset about the lack of fluid in it. . .

Anyway supercheap still stock it and this weekend only it's 20% off. I've been waiting for the traditional SCA/Recpo Bathurst weekend sales and I was trying to find transmax Z for my patrol/jatco and older euros. Looks like castrol have discontinued transmax z completely too, and no stock at SCA or repco. E: Only ~$100/4L at autobarn/auto one/autopro for transmax Z!
