Dead certain, it will promptly flip onto its roof and catch fire. Also, cute kittens will die horrible deaths. That’s what happens when you use the wrong ATF.

Loaded up with four bottles from my local supercheap today. That should see me clear until I can sort out a manual conversion for the "old" 'mont... And then I can probably sell any remaining bottles for ONE MILLION DOLLARS!
Not happy about the price to play this silly game though, last time I bought a bottle I swear it was sub $50 and not even on special. Cheers, Tony |

LV ATF is a different range of fluids; Penrite, Nulon, Hitec all offer such - it’s used in place of stuff like Lifeguard 6. Irrespective of the price, I wouldn’t put such in a BTR box from EA through FG.

Seen a question regarding what oil to use in the btr now that tq is gone on a rvo transmission facebook post. They said to use dexron 3 with a lube guard product called shudder guard, depending on what clutches are used in the transmission they can make a squark noise shifting into 3rd without it.

Interesting thread
So the difference over Dex 3 is that additives to protect planet carriers from wear, this would seem to be what happened when GM went from DEX 3 to DEX 6 and the equivalent Mercon LV which is rated for Ford 6R80 (ZF box) as well as 10R80. It is possible that BTR went to a new trans fluid standard years ahead of what was normally in use but now is probably covered by the later GM/Ford universal oil? |

Or perhaps it's simply as one of the companies I contacted seeking TQ95 observed: "Castrol Australia appears to have progressively lost all interest in their own products and servicing the Australian market and their own products and Australian customers since being merged with BP in 2000". The temporary withdrawal of Castrol Edge and then its repackaged reappearance might perhaps also be a symptom of this. I also wonder they are now simply repackaging BP products or one of its other associated lubrication oil producing subsidiaries as Castrol products.

Unfortunately There seems to be no TQ 95 compatible replacement. Autobarn had 70 4l bottles 3 months ago that is down to 17 now. |

I think if you have a rebuilt box then you should see no issues.
The problems seem to occur as the seals age as the alternatives to TQ 95 are too thin. I tried non TQ 95 in one of my warn boxes and within weeks it really struggled to run right. Never seen misbehaviour until not using TQ 95. I know mechanics have used other transmission fluids especially when building boxes but old boxes that need a top up or a service are going to have problems with non compatible fluids. So far researching this problem for 3 months leads me to believe Penrite transmission fluid is the most compatible. But I would still add Lube guard conversion fluid. Ford Fairmont with 940,000km on it so far trying for the 1 Million. |

I think that by next week there will be no stock left. All Ford wagons up to BF II Wagon use the 4 speed box. Never made a 6 speed version. Those are 17 years old. The last 4 speed Sedan was probably 2011 which is 13 years old. Their are probably some straight 6 Territory's with a 4 speed box built after that. To swap a 6 speed into a car with a BTR 4 speed you need a matching ECU Barra and ZF box as they are coded together from a donor car. Plus some engineering for a wagon. If anyone can get the oils linked previously let the rest of us know and report performance. https://hi-tecoils.com.au/product/atf-type95/ https://automotivesuperstore.com.au/gulf-western-32042 Gulf Western says approved by BTR, Hi Tec Oils say manufactured to spec for BTR boxes. Maybe Penrite will work but it is readily Available and the Castrol Max multi might work. Then comes the issue of not mixing oils as you can not drain the box completely. Really annoying to have this problem. |
