I've just tried to fill up my dual-fuel XR6 and my closest three service stations had no LPG. Checked the internet expecting to find some news about supply problems and found nothing recent. I'm in Melbourne. What's going on with lpg?

This post in the LPG prices thread may have something to do with it. If the prices have gone up so much, perhaps some retail outlets have decided not to stock it any longer?

What you could also check if your local LPG Servos are part of the large oil companies go to their web site. I used to go a certain station in my area for LPG and one day I went there no LPG. The cashier said it would be back soon anyway no gas for a month. Checked on the company website the site was listed as no longer selling LPG. Last edited by EBSXR6; 08-01-2025 at 10:29 PM. |

I have one servo that sells LPG near me, it's only about 8km away, but the V8 Jeep sucks it down in just over 200km, so I've just been running on ULP. I've just got the gas tank certified for another 10 years a year ago, too. Oh well!

Yep, less servos supplying it.
A site gets revamped and when back up running there is no LPG. My closest couple to home are without LPG and the one further down gave me a scare the other day when the LPG nozzles had bright red Out of Action flags on them (thankfully a short maintenance issue). This servo never adjusts the LPG price...it has sat untouched on 93.5c/L for nearly 2 years if not longer. |

The BP stations around here are slowly going through renos, LPG gone from the ones that have been completed.

Lot of servo's will not maintain LPG installations once they near their service life, since demand for LPG is dropping servo's will phase them out due to prohibitive costs.

New BP reno in Sunbury has LPG and same with the new United servo in Campbellfield - there's still a lot of availability in Melbourne north/north western suburbs.
Notice OP is in Glenroy - what areas did you go? You'll usually have luck in Broadmeadows for LPG. |

Tuggerah Metro, NSW Central Coast, one of the few around here, at 95.9 c/litre.

PS I have since crashed my beloved XR6 so it is off the road for a while, with nearly full tanks of lpg and petrol! I am getting my dear old Dad's BA factory gas wagon back on the road - only 173,000 kms. |

LPG demand is dropping fast! I reckon its because the TAXI industry has completely moved away from Falcons on gas

Over the past couple of year, I've noticed a surprising number of new or rebuilt servos being opened up around our area. Vibe, Burk, Metro, and now Atlas.
All big, shiny, and new. Mostly with multi-outlet bowsers dispensing 3 types of petrol and two types of diesel. But sadly, NONE of these new builds have LPG. The Problem in WA comes from a culmination of several issues:
