Stump may also have appeal to woodturners. Wood appears quite sound.

A mate split his Chinese Elm stump into flitches by carefully chainsawing from opposing sides.
I took option 3 with the 14” chainsaw and a bit of axe work. Thanks for the tip!

It took 12AH of battery power but it got the job done.

Better you than me, I have a sore back just looking at those pics!

I'm guessing you will probably need a new chain after doing that?

Yes, you’re spot on. It wasn’t slicing through nearly as well near the end. I’ll be buying a new chain.

Were you chopping the roots with it?

If so, they say the moment you touch the ground, the chain will be dulled instantly.

I hosed the stump down before I started, including underneath, to remove all the embedded dirt in the crevices. I then stood it back up and used the chainsaw to cut out chunks. I had to use the axe a few times to knock off chunks that were difficult to fully cut through with the saw. When I got to the lower part of the stump, I cut off the roots that were protruding from the main trunk with the axe, and then I rolled it over so the roots were pointing up and used the axe on the roots and lower part of the stump. There were a few stones embedded in the roots underneath and I didn’t want to risk hitting them. I didn’t cut down into the ground.
After some more axe work, the bottom part cracked into two, and I laid one chunk across the second one and made one more cut with the chainsaw to end up with 3 chunks that can all be easily lifted and carried to whatever it is that I get to take it all away. Maybe a skip bin.

SWMBO has received an invitation to a conference in Paris as a guest speaker for a medical conference.

It's for her work on pressure related injuries in ICU, which Wen and another colleague worked on for quite a while
mainly in their own time and ended up being published worldwide in different medical journals.

Now all we need to do is convince her to go!

sharpen the chain ...... it's not hard to do. no need to replace a chain just coz it went blunt.

Nice long new video from Demolition Dave, although thought it sad the subject rock couldn’t be designed into a new dwelling.

One of my brothers back in Kiwiland owns a business in teaching english(kiwi) to non english speaking adults. One of their clients is Air New Zealand. They approahed him about a staff trainging conference in Paris.
He turned them down due to wedding aniversery.
They came back on offered to fly him & wife over 1st class with a weeks accomodation on the French Riviera after the conference. Offer was accepted.
