Hey guys! i am looking at buying either an EB S2 or a ED fairmont ghia i was told buy some guys ( who are not reliable at all and are massive tossers) to go with the I6 as it has more potential then the V8 i was looking origanaly at a V8 and just doing the usual mods ie Diff gears, trans work, exhaust, heads and cam and new computer! now these guys recon that if you did these mods to a I6 and a V8 that the 6 would be faster then the 8 can you guys back this up???

the I6 is far easier to work on, but at the end of the day, they should come out at about the same.

It's a lot easier and cheaper to get an I6 to around 150rwkw than it is for an E-Series HO V8. If you're serious about modifying, you need to look at how much you're realistically going to spend, and how much work you can do yourself. If you do the heads on a V8 you'll need to do the manifold, cam, timing set and rockers at a bare minimum.
The I6 has more potential for mildly worked setups, but a 5.0 with alloy heads, aftermarket manifold, cam etc etc will be making around 200rwkw, but would cost over $4000 in new parts, with the original bottom end.
