I've had a quick read up about the MSII... and I was talking to my dyno tuner, who just recently didn't renew his unichip licence (DAM I just got a unichip). I was talking to him about the MSII, and he would like to have a look and is willing to tune it on his dyno...

So what I'm asking is are they as good as or better then a unichip??

If so I'll be sellin my unichip which I just got

Also what will I need to get apart from the MSII kit?
Do I need to get a WBo2?
Is there anything else that i'll need to get??

I reckon hold off and wait for the E series edit. Ie, sell your unichip.

Is the e seriers edit going to be worth the $$$$. Coz I'll want to tune it in between mods, coz I don't think I'll afford them all at once... So have to get it re-edited would still big $$$$, as aposed to the MSII

Megasquirt = can do many many things, if you are prepared to learn how the whole shazam works.

Unichip = if its programming will cover what you want from your car, it's a case of merely getting a premade program loaded into it, or a dyno tune for a custom program. You don't need to learn how it works in that case.

Of course, the greater reward for yourself would be learning how to implement the MS.

ok how many of yous have the MSII and are happy with it?? like wise with the unichip??

I'm only leaning to the MSII coz the guy who ownes the dyno here, is the dad of a old mate of my, and he will tune it for me and show/teach me a bit while he is doing it...

in the week or 2 I'll b putting my car on the dyno to see what power it has now and I will be putting on there when I get a few mod's to c the power difference...

Unichip installation is a little more straight forward compared to the MSII, how ever if you're doing it yourself its not much of an issue.
IMO: the MSII doesn't lend itself to just being handed over to someone to do everything, the unichip does.

That's the crux of it IMO. With MS2 you have to live and breathe EFI, understand how everything works and then research to figure out how this will be implemented on your choice of engine.

Heck, you'll even have to build the thing out of PCB and all the required electrical compinents unless you buy a pre assembled unit on ebay.

You'll need to know the wiring loom of your ECU back to front, inside out... and will need to figure out what parts the standard ECU needs to retain control of...

Unichip = hand over $$$, pick car up later, drive home.

I'd read everything on the MSii site and forums before making a decision.

I would assume that once you get the first edit, the next ones (touch-ups) shoudlnt' cost as much. I guess it depends on your relationship with the tuner. It aslo depends on the size of the next mod you do. If it only requires a touch up to run good again, then it will be cheap. But if it requires alot of hours to tune it again then obviously it isn't goint to be as cheap.

I really would wait and see what the go is with the edit. It's a good thing.

how long till the edit is out??

for you guys out there who have the MSII how'd did you go with the install?? have yous had any troubles with it since??

Definately go the MS2, with a wideband o2 sensor. This will allow you to live tune it while you drive.

Ive had the wolf in my car for about 2 weeks now, and i already have it more economical than the eecv ever was with the same mods, and its a lot faster, and safer as i can adjust timing and fueling wherever i like, with the simple touch of the < or > key.

You will never get a unichip tuned to your mods fullest potential, as the same mods on one motor, will not be the same as those mods on another. So pre-programmed stuff is not the way to go. And as you already know, you will have to have a complete retune after every mod you do. Not worth it IMO. Dont get me wrong though, ive had a unichip and its great once tuned, but i needed more, and the unichip just wasnt worth it. It would be great if you dont want to keep modding.

just to clarify that what you said above is without a retune (ie edit) of the factory ecu.

It just seems that the two options you've mentioned here are:

(unichip) --> simplest option regarding install, you're getting someone to do it all for you.
(MS2) --> most difficult option regarding install, you're doing EVERYTHING.

It looks like two extremes to me?

MSII I will be getting my mates dad to do the tuning, as he did have the unichip licence but didn't renew... He will we show me afew thing while he is tuning it too... I will only be doing the install.

hmmm... reading through I think I convinced myself to go MSII...
