Ey thought some might be interested.
I bought a mag today called PERFORMANCE BUILDUPS and wada surprise they have a detailed and i mean detailed guide on how to strip your Eseries OHC motor and rebuild it (they used some ACL stuff but not much different from standard) by Brendan Mock Also had an interesting article on HELICAL CAMS which can change their profile on the run and supposedly raised power on a stock EA falcon by 23% with stock management stopping the fun. Theyre cams with variable duration operation (lift is fixed), so its similar to VTEC in end result. They are continuously variable unlike the VTEC and dont just "switch" into long duration mode at a pre-determined point, the profile is continuously changing during operation so efficiency is optimized throughout the rev range. Its hard to describe without pics, the lobe kindof swivels back and forth to create different profiles on the fly, so apparently engine speed can be controlled by teh helical cams alone, no use of a throttle plate. Its designed and patented by a guy called Danny Williams from Newcastle. Looks interesting... Last edited by T_Terror; 28-02-2005 at 09:33 PM. |
