Default Playing old games on XP

Hey hey,

Just a quick question for any gaming gurus out there. The other day i went to Install C&C Red Alert onto my PC running Windows XP, but before it would install I got a message saying that the game would only run on Windows 95. Is there any way around this? I know it's pretty old school, but I haven't played it in ages and I gave my old Windows 98 equipped PC to a mate.

Ash

I vaguely remember that there is a "compatibilty" mode.

I think that you put the game into the cdrom, find it in win explorer and find compatibility mode in properties.

Sorry if this is outdated info but that should be enough info for you to google for help.

Yeah, try running it in compatiblity mode. Right click on the Setup file and change the settings in the compatibility section.

I've been playing lots of older games lately that are classed as Abandonware or so as they run perfect on my old laptop!

What you mostly have to do is create a shortcut to the exe then set the compatabilty mode, it will then launch the exe with the correct settings, it works for about 80% of old programs/games and a little more reliably for some reason.
