Default When did you prang Mum/Dads car ?

Victorian Premier Steve Bracks' son has pranged the family SAAB.

We will put aside the serious facts that he was drunk and has injured someone in the crash because that discussion is happening on another thread.

Instead we will have thread on "When did you prang Mum or Dads car?"

What happened?
How bad was it?
Did you get away with it?

I'm proud to say I have never been in an accident in my own or someone elses car (touch wood!).

I know it's not what you asked but oh well.

worst i did was getting a flat on dads 323 as i just nicked the gutter out of a roundabout. was enough to kill the tyre and my [male] passenger at the time was packing his dacks cos he didnt know how to change a tyre. thankfully my dad was smart to teach me tyre changing at 11 or something and i had it changed in 10 mins. he didnt really care.

One of my mates at trade school turned up on a Monday morning, half asleep with putty all over him.

He had a call from his mate who took out his dads 308 VH SL/E Commodore and had side swiped a park car.

His mum and dad where away for the weekend but geting back on Monday night

They spent the night fixing the panel damage with bog before spraying it. The paint was still tacky when this guys dad came home.

He didn't get away with it.

His dad spotted the dust from the sanding on the garage floor the next day. He looked around and found all the other evidence and then checked his car.....one goose cooked..!

Driving the parentals '86 AE Corolla. Turned around a 90 degree bend, put the car back in to 2nd and dropped the clutch. Needless to say the diff lock worked and I slid across the road and up the gutter. Reversed and took off as I was now parked in someone's front yard.
Got down the road a bit and heard a strange noise. Pulled over and noticed that the front right hand wheel had been pushed back nearly in to the wheel arch.
Limped home at about 20 km/h and fessed up to my idiocy. When we checked out the car, turns out I had bent the lower control arm, so we ended up having to replace that. Thankfully, there wasn't any other damage and it only cost me about $200 and a weekend of working with my Dad to get it back on the road again.

Heh not my parents, but I crashed my brothers front wheel drive gemini when I was coming back from work, think I must have had a microsleep as I don't remember it, luckily I didn't damage any other cars or myself, hit the drivers rear door on the front of one of those metal road barriers, was luckily I hit it too because if i had been any distance shorter I would have went over the embankment and into the river.

Also crashed his motocycle the other week while he was trying to teach me to ride it, heh accidently popped a wheelie, thankfully i only bent the gear change and put a small hole in the left blinker, shouldnt cost me too much

Crashed parent's Cortina into the gate.

Wrote off parent's Sigma in a road accident.

Scraped under parent's TX5 going too fast over speed hump.

My EA was owned before my parents before it became mine. It was basically bought as a car for me to drive, even though it was their car. Anyway, my parents had owned if for 9 days when I did this to it.

I hadn't seen another car and pulled out in front of them. When I saw them, I hit the brakes hard but it was too late.

Congratulations go to those who came up with the idea of posting in this thread with comments such as "Never" and "Same here". I am left speechless, marvelling at your wit aswell as your ability to rack up such a great number of useless posts.

...

I was driving my mums car home from work one day as my XC didn't want to start that morning. Coming down Tyner rd, I had stopped at the lights out the front of Rembrants and across from Knox City (for those familiar with the area) waiting to turn right onto Burwood Hwy. The arrow went green and as I drove out through the intersection, I heard that sound you don't really want to hear when in that position.

I turned my head to see who's tyres were screaming just in time to see the little white Pulsar or whatever it was come barreling through the red light with smoke pouring off all four tyres. I jumped on the accelerator as hard as I could but ended up being spun round to face the direction I came from when the other bloke slammed into the drivers side rear quarter on mum's '94 Magna wagon.

Pushed in the quarter, caved in the door, bent the rim (ever so slightly), split the floorpan up under the wheelarch.

It was drivable still, so after exchanging details and whatnot I drove straight to the florist to buy mum a bunch of flowers, then went home to tell her the good news.

First day I got my licence......

Mum had a 1973 Datsun/Nissan (had both badges on it) 260C. It had a 2.6 litre straight six, and unusually for a Japanese luxo barge had a four speed manual box. Anyway got given the 'privelege' of picking up my younger brothers from boyscouts all by myself (woohoo) and on the way there took a detour to the local shopping centre carpark to teach myself burnouts. In the process of doing this I emerged from a big cloud of smoke straight into a nice little Gemini sedan!! crunched the Gem real good (write off) with the old war horse only having a bent bumper and busted grille.

Ah, those were the days.

not my parents car and i wasn't actually driving..but anyway me, my cousin and a mate took my cousins hilux for a drive (all of us on our L's so no licensed driver)..we cam around a dirt corner and it started to slide..we hit the dirt embankment and seeing as it was lifted 3 inches and had 35inch tyres on it well we rolled it straight onto its roof..i ended up with a fractured sternum and my mate copped a broken collarbone..cosuin (driver) got nothing..all he got was 2 fines for neg driving and driving without a licensed passenger.
The car is a write-off but is being rebuilt with a new cab..the beast will live on

Not me.

But some friends of the family, their son pranged there mercedes A-class doing reverse donuts and rally driving...hit a tree and near totalled it. Anyway, he just told his parents he hit a pig, which all went down fine with insurance, etc etc. His parents believed him!

Anyway, on his 21st B-day, he told his parents what had really happened!! That was interesting haha!

Driving dad's Subaru Liberty Wagon, I was sitting at a set of lights (which were red) waiting to turn left. Dude in a Daihatsu Charade slams into my rear end. He got out and started to shout at me asking why I didn't go forward when I saw him coming in my rear whilst the lights were still red. : He insisted that the accident could have been avoidable. I agreed saying that if he stopped in time, it would have been avoided.

My tow bar was scratched, rear bumped scratched and slightly twisted. Dude in the Charade suffered from the following:-
Smashed left headlight
Buckled bonnet
Punctured radiator
Cracked bumper

I rang up my dad and I didn't get in trouble or anything since I was actually stopped and the accident only happened due to some idiot who couldn't understand the concept of "red means stop".

So not only did i crash there car i crashed it into there house. Didn't really damage the car but broke some boards on the house and broke some plates in the kitchen.

Always had my own car, hardly ever needed to drive the old's.

Have only had a couple of love taps in my own cars as well. The worst one was backing into with a tree while working. The most expensive was 5km/h into the back of a camry at an intersection, but that was still less than $500 damage. Probably just a bumper respray.

Actually all of them in my EA. Geez that car had more hits than Elvis. I bought it off my brother and he had had 2 big accidents in it, the first it was sandwiched (he ran up someone then someone ran up him) and the second the whole family was in the car when he mounted an island and took out a sign turning off the Hume hwy lol. Then it was bricked on his front lawn by his druggy neighbour. Still, I used to get comments from the local Ford dealer on how good the interior was every time I took it for a service.

Sorry, went a bit of topic.

Two years ago I was running a car wash business with my cousin and I was backing this EL we had just washed out of the driveway, and when I got out past the fence (at least I thought so) and swung hard, hear this massive crash (was only going about 10km/h). So I get out and my 5 year old cousin says 'Jack broke the car!'
So I take a look and there is absolutely no damage, so I'm thinking phew that's lucky! Then my cuz says 'other side man'... $750 later the cars all healthy and good
