Default Exhaust manifold gasket

I've got an exhaust leak coming from the manifold so I am hoping the gasket is just shagged. So when I replace it, do I need to use exhaust sealant type stuff? Anything special involved when changing it?

Cheers

After a number of blow outs of exhaust gaskets I now use some good quality silicon sealer instead of the gasket. Pacemaker, JMM and others recommend this and I haven't had a problem since.

Yep, don't need a gasket, just silicon.

I used new gaskets, no silicon, and it works fine.
