Default Brake switch

This has been done to death, but Im about to put a new spin on it.
My brake lights are lit, constantly. If I apply brake, I get no more light, they just stay lit. I know its my brake lights that are on, as my middle light is on as well.
Cruise control wont work.
Changed to a new brake switch. Now I get NO lights.
Took switch back, thought it might be broken, put in my old one. Constant lights again.
Got a new switch, no lights again, checked all my fuses, and the relay, all are in good nick.
WD40'd my old one, put it back in, so at least my brake lights are on, makes people aware of me on the road. I travel in non peak hour times, I dont see other cars on the road, but I still really need them to work.

So my question, WTF do I do next? Why wont they work?

Josh

check the wires in the boot
make sure none have been damaged

make sure the bulbs are ok?? 1 may have shorted and is causing the lights to come on but when you press the brake it is ungrounding/shorting and makeing it work properly.. if that makes ANY sense..

just a really far out theur suggestion, check your trailer plug. my olf falcon had a problem similar to that and after days and days of painstakingly looking it turned out my car bottomed out over a bump and it earthed the trailer plug but if it doesnt help good luck
