Exclamation Ford owners are the most likely to take drugs, according to a new survey.

BMW owners are more likely to drink and drive than other motorists and Ford owners are the most likely to take drugs, according to a new survey.

The survey, conducted by car brokers Private Fleet, canvassed the habits of 2,500 Australian drivers.

It also revealed that middle-aged Queensland women are statistically the safest drivers on Australia's roads.

As for which state has the worst and safest drivers, South Australia is home to the worst drivers on our roads, while ACT is relatively safe by comparison.

The study also found:

* The worst drivers are male P-Platers from NSW

* Male drivers of Ford motor vehicles in QLD are the most likely to drive after using illicit drugs, with more than two per cent admitting drug-driving.

* Overall, Holden was the choice of vehicle of the worst drivers on the survey, whereas Mazda came out on top as the having the best-behaved drivers.

* BMW driver took out the dubious honour of the worst drink-drivers, with 42 per cent admitting to having driven after drinking three or more standard alcoholic drinks.

* Honda drivers keep it straight with less than 33 per cent admitting the same.

* Speed freaks head for Tasmania, where nearly 50 per cent of drivers say that they have exceeded the speed limit by more than 30 km/h, whilst Victorians take their time as only 39 per cent putting their pedal to the metal.

Not true. I stopped my Falcon on the freeway the other day to re-light my spliff, and saw a guy driving a combi lining up some speed on his steering wheel!

Some things are deff true..South Australian drivers are utterly terrible! Haha since moving here from QLD I couldn't believe the quality of driving here..lack of indicating, cutting people of, useless speeding, going through red lights, not giving way..you name it! haha

Opt-in survey... immediately loses credibility right there.

I've seen more drunk/stoned idiots on Commondores than any other type of vehicle... oh and the hoon stats speak for themselves - down in Victoria 800+ Commodores were seized for hooning versus 220 Falcons.

I wonder if there is a study done on the number of camrys pulling across 3 lanes of traffic without looking?

From a research basis a there are no benefits in surveying over about 1,200 people, the higher you go over this number there is very little statistical value for general population trends. Having said that, the way the research was conducted is unknown and hard to comment on.

Maybe because you have two, they cancel each other out?!?!?!?!

I've got two as well and i don't do any drugs. And I'm Victorian in the 39% bracket i guess. I think going to the speed limiter on the XR6 counts.

I use the entire spare ford I have in the back yard as a bucket bong and then use my mazda to trick others to think I am a safe driver straight after. :

What a load of toss this survey is.

Hoon Stats = poo

You can have your car confiscated for chirping your wheels unintentionally - does that equal hooning - BAH

Impounding is just for retarded statistics like the above so average joe moron feels safe and so it seems like somthing is done about "hoons"

what is hooning - the police don't have a definition - excessive noise and or smoke is not chirping your tyres
