Default QLD Law regarding undercar neons.

Hi all. Just wondering if anyone here knows what Queensland Law is regarding having neons underneath one's car is. I've heard that some colours are legal;I just haven't validated the info through Queensland Transport.

any colour except for red and blue are legal
neons are only to be illuminated when vehicle is stationary and motor switched off
vehicle must not be a distraction to other motorists

They're subject to the "good taste" law. ie they should be off at all times, except for the privacy of your own bedroom...oops, garage.

I was under the impression having under car neons could result in being charged for being a Wayne Ker, I understand the maximum punishment for this offence is revoking your copy of the Fast and the Furious for up to 3 years.

And be relegated to having a "milo tin" exhaust.

Everyone has the right to modify their car as they deem fit; putting certain parts on ones car shouldn't dictate the type of person that someone is. With that being said, it could be implied the same about people with Turbo on their cars.

Now, now, just because he wants to add something to his car doesn't mean he should be bagged out for it. Each to their own. If everyone liked and performed the same mods it'd be pretty boring

Mate it was a joke, but I agree with the turbo thing, which is why I bought a supercharger

Agreed, imagine if half the guys in this section all had (and thought a modified AU was) lowered, mags, clear indicators, K&N filter and an XR6T snorkel...... Would be pretty dull hey, oh wait :

I'm in NSW and I crossed the line and fitted some blue neons to my car. I think I gre tired of them after about a month. There was only a few times I got a talking to from the local constabulary for having them on whilst driving from which they told me to be on my way, and I think now I havent bothered to turn them on for about a year.

If u decide to fit them, beware steep driveways. Mate had them on his commodore, broke the clip for them backing out of a driveway and smashed them.

If u do decide to get some, dont use the clips and go for cable ties!

Under QLD vehicle standards law, every colour is taken (police, ambos, park rangers etc) bar pink, so that really is your only choice.

Under the QLD road rules, which the police use, you could be charged with dazzling and distracting other drivers, even if you are stationary...
