ive got a mk 1600 auto and wanna convert to manual, ive heard the escort 4 speed is good enough for what i want. i undertsnad that the gearbox is a cable clutch not hydraulic, so if i was to get one of those adjustable bias pedal boxe's would it all just bolt up? is there anything i need to apart form the obvious like making a hole in the firewall. will it even bolt up?

if you have a 1600 - go for a 1600 gearbox, a 2lt escort box will go in but it will need more work ie mounts, tailshaft etc..
The simplest way is 2 find a 1600 Box (GT Capri gearbox or similar as they are a closer ratio than the STD 2lt box), that way you would be able to get a tailshaft simply Adjustable pedal boxes are great if you have or intend putting disc brakes on the back. One issue is that depending on where you are some consider them not RW.... (something to check) I have one to suit an Escort in my rally car - Fantastic option if you get really keen manual clutch over Hydraulic?? personal preference, I prefer cable as less to go wrong Once again look for a standard manual pedal setup from a corty hope this helps |

cheers for that, but the cortys only came with hydraulic clutch. but i was loong to go cable clutch for the same reason as you less to go wrong.
