Hey All,
I am looking for someone who is flying from London to Brisbane in the next few days and willing to bring some car parts back from the UK as excess luggage! The parts are an inlet manifold, throttle body and some nuts and bolts for a Fiesta. The package weighs about 13kgs so will be put down in the heavy/ excess baggage part and they may have to pay excecss baggage which will be payed back in full. This is a legite request and the person is quite able to open the box and look inside to check (in fact please do) Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Not trying to hi jack the thread, but is there a reason you can't just have the box posted through normal air freight London - Brisbane.

I know you can also pay a lot more but get goods in around 24 hours (this does cost a fair bit of money though)

O'k I can see your dillema - that is a fair amount of dough to pay for freight, certainly would be more than the cost of the car parts.
Good luck with finding a willing passenger. |

Unfortunately the 13 kg's is probably why they are charging you so much. Do you need the parts urgently? (or do they just need to be picked up ASAP) If you can wait, you might be able to use a lower prority service and save some money.

Just got the quote from DHL, $421.18 for low priority.....
Parts are not urgently required, would like them in the next couple of months though!!! THeir is a crack in my manifold (Fiesta manifolds are plastic) and all the wreckers are frontals which smashes the manifold in a heart beat.....

Damn thats expensive - maybe try UPS and see what they say (send it via sea freight should be a lot less) Apart from that I am out of ideas - unless you try posting - or you find a willing passanger

dude its probably cheaper with a courier than getting someone to take it as excess baggage. I bought my BMX back from the UK and although myself and girlfriend with the bike were within the limits the check chick cocked up the checked baggage and the system would only allow to add the bike as excess. I didnt end up paying but she tred to sting me for over 300 of her majesties pounds sterling.
Looking at Qantas for arguments sake the rates are $525 for 15kgs pre purchased or $50 per KG if just rocking up at the airport. You may be lucky with a backpackers website or something to find someone coming back who will be travelling light, but a family not packed up with red telephone box and union jack souvenirs may be hard to come by.
