92 years later, Germany pays off its debt

All the talk of personal debt on the forums recently, 92 years later, Germany makes its final payment from the treaty of versailles on the 3rd of october.

But the country isn't debt free. This article is a little old but still they are in deep deep debt (remember Aus is about 6% of GDP).

Indeed, but still, it took 92 years to pay off the cost of WWI.

I'm pretty sure there was a certain leader they had that would have told the allies to shove it and he wasn't gonna pay.

That was 1933 through to 1945 though, about 12 years.

They are. The amount of money West Germany is pumping into East Germany is still high after the allies split the country for 45 years. Plus the secret payments made to Israel. Imagine how strong Germany would be if it didn't have all of these leaches sucking the money out of their economy!

I believe it wasn't actually a war debt, but a fine emplaced upon them (the idea being that paying off the fine would be so encumberig that they wouldn't be able to assemble a large military or have the funds for campaigns.. hahahahahahahahaha).

Never mind, the federal government introduced income tax to pay off Australia's WW1 debt.

I cant believe the English/French were so petty as too reinstate the Treaty of Versailles after Hitler used it as political ammunition.

actually they had to blame world war 1 on someone, so they chose Deutschland. I strongly believe that if this didnt happen there would not have been a world war 2. the reason for this is Deutschland's economy would not have been totally screwed and the Deutsch public wouldnt of had to look to an extremist with a "good" plan to get them out of it.

And some others had a invested interest in creating a war for there own agenda. and they do not give a toss about peoples lives at all.
