Guys coming from someone who is a partner to an employee of centerlink some of the crap they put up with is crazy.
Not saying its anyone here but wow, some people are very ungrateful. To boot the office she works in has a security guard there full time and its located across from the police station and courts, all so very convenient..hehe Anyway, yes the waits can be long, but be thankful you are not there 9-5. |

I understand that. But there has to be a quicker way of doing things rather than waiting 2 hours to get 1 form stamped.

The old man has been a public servant since 1978, DSS back then, now Centrelink, the crap he has been through because of the "clients", death threats through investigating fraud etc.
At least these days its just old people with a few investment houses and $800,000+ in the bank complaining they want a pension because they can't survive. With Centrelink, the only people who know what they're doing and can give the right advice are the oldschoolers, who know all the calculations and the laws in and out in their head, the people who rely on the computer system, one accident with the keyboard and you're getting your benefits cut or getting paid for something you don't qualify for. In that joint you ask 3 people and get 3 different answers. Quote:

So your saying that Centrelink should be nice and quick?? I'd personally rather see the money go to other gov services to quicken them up.

I'm now on disability pension earning an extra $200 dollars than I was when job seeking.
Was quite happy to job seek, except they kept disregarding my sleeping disorder (I can't wake up consistently before 3pm) and cutting my pay off because I did not attend a "suitable job" they lined up for me (the hours were 9am-5pm), they also kept cutting me off because I was not attending their 10am appointments. I had evaluations medical certificates yet they just pretended they never saw them, every time I called them they weren't aware of the sleeping disorder depsite me telling them EVERY time and showing them the documents numerous times. I just wanted a night job and their support in helping me find a night job (quite necessary given my health, but not hard for them to do really). Due to the negligence I had to get on the pension, where they're off my back now and don't have any unexpected pay cancellations. And I get an extra $200 that I don't need (but am entitled to) as I'm currently living at home with my parents. no ******* wonder everyone is on it. If centrelink just did their ******* job properly I would've quite happily stayed on as a jobseeker rather than receive an unneccessary pension that if I chose to could leech off for the rest of my life. It's as though they want people to take everyones money, disgusting.

Try working a normal 9-5 job with chronic fatigue or many other issues out there.
That said, job network providers are pretty woeful. They look for heavy lifting jobs for people with bad backs - nice of them, eh?

I have a sleeping disorder but thankfully I work at the airport where night shifts are plentiful.
Now days the period of sleepless nights have become much less frequent. I know Brisbane terminal is always looking for people Illavitar, i'd imagine most other airports would have a similar high turn over rate and need for staff. Might be worth looking into if your keen!

I just don't understand why they have so much paperwork.
All the questions they ask can be placed on 2 sheets of paper, not 30!!

I can't complain about centrelink. I am happy to go through the wait times etc considering they give us 270pf in family tax benefits. Just today they refunded us 1500 for our childcare rebate. So no complaints from me. Whenever I have rung them I have waited no longer than 5mins and the very few times we have been in to the office whilst long the staff were alright, can't say the same for the people coming in. I applaud the staff for not giving in and telling them to follow the rules or get nothing. Basically they were getting abused for not issuing payments when the people didn't bring a form, look for work etc. People who have never worked a day in their life but think they are entitled to everything.

9-5 is that. No sympathy for the staff, might sound harsh but thats the way the world is, everyone wants everything yesterday. I work in a supermarket and some of the rubbish i get is astounding... ive accepted it, its just the way the world is now. Hell im the same.

Funny thing is the Mercury poisoning is probably causing all of it, I was perfectly healthy beforehand, despite being a life threatening intoxication the doctors laugh at me and tell me it's nothing. Even with it being in my blood the most dangerous non radioactive element on this planet is somehow harmless....Kind've ironic that the system would rather let me down and compensate me financially/centrelink. Rather than fix my quality of life and keep me off centrelink.

Centrelink no longer exists. As of 1 July this year, they became Department of Human Services. I do find it amusing how people bag them. Biting the hand that feeds them.

Centrelink, Commonwealth Rehab Service, Child Support Agency and Medicare are all under the one banner now, which makes me laugh because Centrelink can't figure out Centrelink's business, let alone everyone working with each other. |
