Default Rowan Atkinson in hospital after fiery supercar crash

One less McLaren F1 in the world.... :(
http://www.perthnow.com.au/entertain...-1226108894537

Quote:
BRITISH film and TV comic Rowan Atkinson was in hospital today after spectacularly crashing his McLaren F1 supercar on a road in east England.
The 56-year-old lost control of the £650,000 ($1.05 million) vehicle, which has a top speed of 368km/h, before smashing into a tree and then a lampost, the Daily Mirror reported.

The car then burst into flames, with Atkinson managing to pull himself free from the wreckage.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the accident near the village of Haddon, Cambridgeshire at 7.30pm, the Evening Star reported.

Firefighters put the blaze out and Mr Atkinson was taken to Peterborough District Hospital suffering from a shoulder injury, the Mirror said.

One onlooker said: "Rowan is lucky to be alive considering the state of the car."

No other car was reportedly involved.

Atkinson, well known for his Mr Bean and Blackadder characters, was suffering from shoulder injuries and was taken to Peterborough City Hospital.

i was suprised to see Rowan on top gear, and that he's actually a bit of a rev-head. i guess he forgot he wasn't on the track.

Good to hear he made it out relatively unscathed.
Sorry to hear about the loss of his McLaren, he did love that car. One less McLaren F1 makes the world a little worse off :(

Good on him for driving it as much as he did, as it should be. Most F1s would be sitting in a garage for display purposes only with owners looking at the "investment value" over actually driving this awesome drivers car.

The original report says the car burst into flames, but the pics don't show that! Did someone blow it out?
It looks like the passenger compartment held up well.

lol wtf.. looks like the rear end (engine and everything) 'just' fell out...

hmm from reading the report looks like he swiped a tree? hitting the rear and ripping that part of the car off.

Looks like it, and as long as the CF Tub is in one piece, McLaren have been known to rebuild them before.

At least hes out there driving a supercar as a daily Good on him!

Looks like the rear end has sheared off, and its probably designed to do that. The front end has held up very well, and its probably repairable (once again)
