some are probably aware that in vic now the rwc place has to take photos of your car at the rwc centre, your vin odometer and also show the vehicle on a hoist with wheels removed....... Holden now charge 150 bucks for a roady , at least in my area. photos are then filed and kept for 7 years. I am all for a decent roady but now my name , address and photos of my vehicle will be kept at a rwc place. I somehow feel less safe. What if the centre gets rolled and now someone has my address, photos of my car etc ? .

Are you shure its a vicroads thing? My brother had one done last week week and there were no photos, cost $80.
If what your saying is correct, I would also be worried.

Yes in Victoria the RWC tester needs to take photos of the car and keep them on record for 7 years.

It's correct. Guess ya brother was lucky. I for one am not real happy mainly for privacy reasons.. thought people needed owners permission to photograph someones vehicle?

Might be a good cottage industry in supplying IT hosting services for garages now. If this is a Vic govt requirement then they should be providing the infrastructure for storing this info.

it takes effect september 1. Also in victoria its the details of the person presenting the vehicle that are kept on file, so if you get your grandmother who lives on the otherside of town from you to take your 1000hp turbo cortina to get the roadworthy, its her details that are kept on file not yours.

It actually started from the 1st of january this year 4 pictures are required 1 of the vehicle in the workshop 1 of the vehicle on a hoist 1 of the vehicle with the wheels removed and 1 of the vehicle odometer. They do this to stop the good old dodgy phone rwc's that used to happen good idea but a pain in the butt for people like me having to run and get a camera every 10 minutes

Sorry i was told the 1st of jan so ive been doing this since then bit of a pain in the butt as for privicay i can relate to being a bit nervy of people having pics of there car on file. Also have to do this will all the bus inspections i do aswell had to go buy a youbuet camera, seperate computer to store everything give it another year and we will no longer have rwc books it will be all done on computer online also just a warning probally 2 or so years time we can all look forward to yearly rwc's

Interesting.
Can see the price of a RWC keep increasing. I remember when I did my apprenticeship, it was only $45 in Victoria.

I will count my blessings... Don't miss the RWC one bit!
NO RWC required here in Tas, unless the vehicle is from interstate or new... After that it is only required if the rego expires or you are directed to by police/transport... Costs around $60 here and is real straight forward...
