Just read this story on the Herald Sun

The incident triggered a dangerous scramble for the euro bills yesterday on the busy A2 highway near Maastricht, as people parked cars on the road's shoulder and ran to scoop up loose notes.

Police in the southern Dutch province of Limburg confirmed in their Twitter feed "it briefly rained bank bills."

Reporter Rudy Bouma told national broadcaster NOS he saw people grabbing handfuls of cash before hopping back into their cars and driving away.

It was not clear how much cash was lost, or how it could have fallen from the truck.
What would you do in the same situation? Wonder what happens if you keep it?

Some people are just in the right place at the right time.

we were driving home back in the late 80's when i was a kid, and the semi in front of us lost it around a notorious corner near home and dropped most of its load of creamy soda can slabs all around it. They actually asked us if we'd like some so we took a few slabs lol.

If it happened to me, i dunno what i'd do honestly, more than likely nothing though. If i found a note on the ground randomly i'd pick it up, but if it were a money truck i'd more than likely not do anything. You could get in some big do-do for it, blatant theft.

Correct.
It is theft if you take the money.
And in this day and age where everyone has a camera, its more than likely someone will have a picture of you taking it.

It's best to do the right thing and return it. Not trying to be a do-gooder, but taking advantage of the misfortunes of others is something I prefer not to have on my conscience. I can't speak for anyone else, but that is something I would personally do.

The lost cash was insured, so no bank depositor lost a single cent. Make of that what you will...

In all honesty? I'd probably just leave it alone or take a couple of quid..

If you took a large amount and are dumb enough to bank it, I'm sure the serial numbers would be recorded and you'd just get nicked.

In the US many years ago, $2.5m in used bank notes fell out of the side door of a money truck. The money was being taken out of circulation and transported in large sacks for destruction, the cash was all untracable and it was never seen again....

I have often dreamt of been in such a situation and wondered what i would do, to be honest, i would need to be in that situation to find out....

Either way, its you and many many others. Grab n go go go! So long as the bank truck isnt within recording distance as they have cams all over outside the truck?
