Default SR20DET conversions into a escort or capri?

Has anyone seen or heard of any nice conversions done with the SR20DET engine into a Capri or escort? I have seen a few conversions done with the Escort but am looking to find as much information on these conversions as i can. I'm considering doing it to a Mk1 Capri. Any information/advice would be greatly appreciated

I've always wanted to do a 13B conversion to a Esky, preferably a MK1
Then id have two things i like combined in to one!
When I get this house buying thing done, it maybe a reality

why the sr20?
a rb25 or 26, 1j or 2j would be a way superior conversion and would cost similar money...
heck i reckon for close to 15k you could build yourself a solid low 10second capri running a 2j

yer I still have to look into it more... its more a room factor in the capri engine bay with minimal modification.. plus im after a daily driver not an absolute weapon that you can drive due to way to much power.. capris are good at getting rapped around trees and poles due to the light rear ends so im not really after a super fast car... plus i dont have 15k lying around

LOL......It's not the light rear end that wraps them around poles, it's the idiot behind the wheel.

Seriously, though. How do you get one registered these days with the new modified vehicle rules? I can't find an engineer who'll touch my Zetec Escort and that has half the power of the engines you're talking about.

I totally agree about the idiots who crashed them all.. but at least we appreciate that some lasted...

Yer I'm still looking into that area but South Australia is a bit more relaxed on car road worthy.. but if I'm going to do it i want it to be as safe as possible. Don't want another Capri to be wrecked. hoping to spend the Easter weekend just looking at a heap of information and deciding whether to go ahead with it or not.
