Nice looking XD GHIA buddy, definatly a rare colour too.
Seen it on ebay few days ago for sale. I try not to find cars I have sold as it gets upsetting.

My father had an immaculate XT GT, he sold it to buy their current house.
Next time he saw it was on the back of a tow truck written off. Apparently the new owner had decided to go silly in a casino car park (showing off) and hit a number of parked cars etc pretty much every panel was damaged. I miss that car! |

I had an XD sedan 6cyl that I sold to I guy who worked a cross the road from me, he obviously didn't change the rego over as I had police knock on my door in the early hours of the morning asking if I was the owner.
Apparently the car went through someones fence and ended up in their swimming pool! It was just a beater I used for work so no great loss! |

I had a pretty clean EBXR8 I did up a bit about 7 years ago. Sold it on the old Ford forums, heard it was up in Pt Lincoln sold on from the previous owner and in a trashed condition. I was pretty upset to hear that.
I saw my old Subaru Liberty wagon on the road the other day. It looked like was hadnt been washed for 12 months. Thick, dark grime on the alloys, dirt up the side and the people inside looked a bit unkept. Its a shame to see your old pride and joy being treated not even half heartedly when you had it.

I traded my BFII Super Pursuit in 4 years ago now and seen it not long ago.. trashed!!! damaged rims, scrapes, scratches all over it. When I traded it the dealer put it in the showroom with the new cars it was in such good condition.

Our GT Cortina...
Sold it privately, and a week or so later saw it on the TV news...with a blazing fire under the bonnet. No idea what happened to it after that...never saw it again driving around...I did hear a whisper it was rusting away in a shed somewhere outside Bundy, but that was many years ago now. |

I had an '89 TX5 Ghia which I sold to one of my brothers mates. He destroyed 3 gearboxes in the short time he owned it and that's especially bad since it was replaced while I owned it.
God knows what else eventually was wrong with it but I think it got crushed in the end. The only thing it had wrong was it needed rear suspension and a new MAF which was disclosed clear as day and backed by service reports. I got my money after all so don't really care in the end but it was unfortunate I couldn't really afford to keep it because it is a much nicer daily driver than my current car. |

My old excellent condition EF V8 Gli. Sold it to my mate for $5G 7 years ago (also house my mate at the time) and he proceeded to damage 2 of the 3 piece rims, trash the excellent interior and run the mechanicals into the ground, especially the suspension (it was lowered and he used to travel crap dirt roads and drive quickly over speed humps etc).
He then sold it to my brother for 500 bucks a year later (tells you the condition it was in) who then spent a few grand on it respraying it and replacing some stuff (panels, suspension, straigtening the rims) and sold it for $4G a few months later lol. Saw it once after that, but by now its scrap somewhere. It had 350,000kms on it when my brother sold it.

My old Black EB Fairmont Ghia V8...Imaculate car!.... swapped it with my brother for an AU XR6.. anyway he sold it about a year later, and then about a year after that I got a message from a guy who had bought it from the new owner. He was asking about the engine. I said "hows the car looking ?" , he replied "well its only good for parts, Im wrecking it out... it has every panel dented and its only good for parts now!" . Needless to say I was gutted :(
So in the space of 2 years it went from a beautiful example to a wreck :(

Had a pristine ZF Fairlane and was constantly pestered by the local butcher to sell it to him. I finally did, so I could buy another car, and within two weeks he lost control and crashed into a boulder strewn creek and wrote it off.

Mines worse... I sold my fg to a wholesaler in Gladstone, he put me on his email list for what he has available. And every week I see it hasn't sold.
I almost dread opening my emails now, if I get a new job shortly il be buying it back for sure. Best car I've ever owned. |

Just before I got my L's I bought an XF panelvan that was lowered, shaved, resprayed, mags, dark tint etc. Anyway spent the next year spending what ever many I had on it doing the typical P plater mods like big stereo, extractors and exhaust etc. I drove it around on my P's for a while and then other stuff took priority and the panelvan ran out of rego. Ended up selling it to people we know for way to cheap. Within a week the diff was out of it to replace the stuffed diff in their EB wagon and their 10 yes 10 kids had used it as a jumping castle basically.. To this day I have never seen another XF pano as straight and tidy as that one was. Still my biggest regret

Two connected horror stories.....
Had an immaculate XA fairmont GS hardtop....factory 351, 4 speed, 9in....etc etc... One of my friends had been pestering me for ages to buy it so when I took up karting a little while later and needed a van instead.....I sold it to him. Two months later and he's coming home drunk from a party, put's it under the back of a parked truck.....his girl spent 3 months in hospital after the rescue squad cut the turret off the car to get her out. Bought a genuine XC Sundowner panel van to carry the go-kart.....nice van with rare options even rated a mention later in Australian Muscle Car mag last year. Ended up selling it and some months later saw it on the back of a tilt tray with the front stoved in really hard........another waste of a great car...

Not a mint car but none of the less i owned a 86 FE LTD, all original, mint interior etc, sold it off to a mate for the grand some of 1000 (cheap as it had no wheels, i kept them) Any way he then lent it to a mate to use while his car was out of service, ended up lossing the keys for it and it sat on the verge for a month as no one could be bothered, ended up getting a move notice placed on it then the bright house mate of his decided to skull drag the car with his rock ape 4x4, snapped the diff, steering box, linkages etc etc, basicaly not worth fixing, so was sent off as a wreck.
I have had some good luck with other peoples once where mint cars though, picking them up cheap for parts

Bought a VL Berlina V8 off a mate of mine after he had written it off hitting a parked car to avoid a cat! He only had third party on it and was in a bit of trouble financially, and being cashed up at the time I bought it from him at a very high price to help him out.
Had a panel beater mate of mine repair the car and fully respray it in the original colour for me. It looked like a new car. I had some holes in the console and the one of the rear door trims repaired which was the extent of the faults in the cream interior. Resprayed the engine bay and cleaned up the engine with a little bit of chrome, upgraded the brakes, repainted the interceptor rims that were on it, new auto in it with 2500 stall convertor in it, mini spooled the diff and repainted the taillights and black trim. Looked like new and went really well, and after all that it only owed me $3500! Sold it to a bloke who wanted it for his wife to take the kids to school in!! He had a very well looked after fairlane so thought he'd take care of it. Fast forward 6 years and I'm driving through cranbourne with my boss after doing a job and spot it in a servo. We pull in and I have a chat to the owner. It's got an ill fitting body kit on it, badly faded and damaged paint, scratches all over it, the interior is a mess with ripped seats, cracked dash and damaged door trims! He told me he had bought it from an auction as a stolen recovered not long ago and was looking to sell it! Almost considered it until he started it up and it just blew constant smoke! Was a real shame to see it in that state after bringing it back from the dead. Strangely enough, after owning 42 cars, this is the only one I've seen on the road. There have been others I've heard about through the grape vine that have had bad things happen to them but mostly once i've sold them thats it for them, they disappear! Here's the VL when i bought it: And this is how it looked when I sold it: and what I used to do with it: Sorry about the poor quality pics. Had to scan them in from the original prints!! They were taken back in 2000!! lol

I've got a bad one and a good one. About a month ago after refusing for months I ended up giving in and selling my factory manual EL falcon futura to my (now ex for completely unrelated reasons) gf. XR suspension, AU engine, extractors, cat, exhaust, short shifter, mint interior etc... that I had owned for about 2.5 years... day after she swiped one of the mirrors off on a pole... replaced... 5 days on, fish tailed off the road through a barbed wire fence into a tree... I was pretty devastated, I replaced both mirrors, got wheels alligned (still running some neg camber), every single panel was damaged but I touched it up as best I could, replaced wind screen wipers and spray that was torn off, screws indicators back in and it should live... Not sure if it will last till I see it again with her driving..
Opposite story, EAII Gli that had been in the family from 2 years old till 2009. Was always treated immaculately, basically no marks, best paint I've ever seen on an EA (white). Had the column shift 4 speed auto. Was basically handed on to me, I added a sports exhaust and some genuine Ford snowflake mags... ended up selling it to buy a safer BA XT, but saw it about a year on at a bowling/golf club looking as good as ever, new owner had kept up with polishing and it had fresh tyre shine... easily the neatest EA I've ever seen in person.

I had a clean XE S-Pack as a runaround for a while, sold it on and a couple of months later saw it parked outside a pub in Freo with the windscreen smashed in & a yellow sticker. Pity, cause the aircon was ice-cold in that one.
When I sold the XD ESP the kid who bought it kept rabbiting on about how he's was gonna do this & that, change the interior colour, de-badge it, strip off all the original trim pieces, basically hack up a pristine original car. Why? and why tell me? I don't want to know. I was actually more concerned about him putting it into a tree on the way home, but there you go... And then the bloke who bought the TE50, I remember him going on about "putting in Recaro seats, change the steering wheel, etc" again don't want to know...just hand over the money & let me cry into my drink...

Dumb question...but how do you know it was your car last pic? For the life of me I can't see anything distinguishing which appears on both cars ie a sticker, or a badge put in a non factory position ect ect. |

Being a Ford Forum, this may not go down to well but one car I had and sold was a VT Commodore Acclaim with most options fitted. I decided to downsize ( big mistake) but the point of this post is what happened to my car. About 3 weeks after I sold it, it looked like crud and a few days later the clown blew the motor while doing burnouts. Ah well, it's done.
