With todays seismic news concerning Ford, i just wanted to say i love my AU. A big thank you to the all the workers of Ford AUS for putting together the best, most underated Falcon ever imo!

I love mine too. I've always said i will never sell my old Narooma Blue beast and this has just cemented that standpoint even further.

My Series III XR6 will be the last car I can own. All those other Fords are for smaller people so The XR will have to be my last decent car. :(

As a fellow AU XR6er I have to agree. I am more than happy to have my XR seen sitting beside the BMW, a great pair of which neither will leave my side and yes "THANK YOU Ford Australia for the manufacture of this great vehicle"

the AU will be remembered fondly in the future . it's styling was ahead of it's time and it's reliability is something other makes can only dream of

yeap love mine too.
Ive always longed for a xa/xb...I still do, but the more I think about it the more I believe Ill keep my TE stock and maintain it. Not for financial reasons, although to be honest return % wise would be better as it doesnt really need anything, but because the AU was and is IMO the most AUstrailan Ford built. I still second look at the design aswell, its so smooth and modern and with the Auzzuro's it looks classy.

my Ford Falcon Au has been the best car i've ever owned, it has cemented itself as a part of the family like an old black lab, faithful to the last breath, i love the AU.

My AU will most likely be with me for a long, long time..
They really are a great car.. I finally talked my 'better half' into having an AU Fairlane as a daily and so far, it has proved to be a great car also. My father was recently looking for a new daily drive too and I talked him into an AU Fairlane V8. He has nothing but great words to say about it. So all in all, they are a great, value for money car to own.

I love my AU Fairlane V8. It's quick enough for me and it's roomy and comfortable. The stereo is good enough etc etc etc.
I am already wondering what I will replace it with when I have to get rid of it in a few years. That will be a sad day.

My auxr8 is 14 years old next month, an ex NSW HWP chaser. I have owned it for 13 years. Apart from routine maintenance the only replacements have been front rotors, still has original rear rotors, exhaust, fuel pump relay, coil packs, cam synchroniser and a set of rear drive shafts under warranty.
No intention of parting with it any time soon. |

Bought my AU LTD purely by luck. I was not looking for an AU to replace my NL Fairy, but when I saw the price and what it had to offer, I was mad not to.
Only since owning this car and of courtesy of these forums, have I found out how great a car they are. Best improptu sight unseen purchase I have ever made. Cannot see me selling it ever. Oh, and even bought a second one to use as a daily. Awesome cars. Love them. Stu

One theme thats being repeated in this thread is members keeping their AU's for life, i also share that sentiment! Au's were ahead of their times & deserved to fly high in their own right!

Agreed Maka , they are very easy car to live with, and even any minor faults are generally pretty easy to fix, not taking anything away from other falcon models, but i really do think the xr version in the Au is more biased towards a drivers car than most of the other models, it really can be a super lot of fun to drive in the twisties, my young brother 20 years my junior (has a warmed up v8 soarer) we have a grudge match going,
he thinks he will obliterate my old falcon in a gymkhana type of event.......... my money says the nimbleness of the Au will win out against the boaty horse power of his super charged soarer, theres no date set but its going to happen

I put my money on nimbleness too mik! Theres no denying the AU XR series were a sweet thing (both 6 & 8)! Yes they were biased towards a drivers car but they still have the base traits that all AU owners are familiar with & love! You can drive a XR to a track day & you know it'll get home after a pizzling (within reason)! I aspire to own a good AU XR6 & AU Fairlane / LTD to go with my Futura one day down the track when the times right!

I thoroughly enjoy my AU's..have been extremely lucky having owned about 8 or so and have got to know them intimately lol... yeah baby..
I think I know everything about the model and its good to get a kick up the butt when I get it wrong..so many variants in the AU. most of all I feel blessed that I can hoon a bit more than you young fellas..the boys in blue go...he's 58..midlife crisis..to much trouble!!!!

I've loved AU's since... well forever! Especially the wagons. Back in the early 2000s they were actually my favourite cars (Wasn't into the supercars like everyone else a whole lot, still ain't much!).
The surprise to pick up ol' Skip that day of the auction in 2003... plus bull bar and upgraded suspension... couldn't have been better! Now, I've bought the car myself, and it will remain with me, and become my ultimate Falcon, AUII RTV Touring Wagon! Would love to even collect a few other AU models someday too. |
