For those that don't know me I had a head go on my Territory and paid a suposedly reputable mechanic 4k to fix it.When he put it back together it was the same except I was 4k light in the hip pocket. After a 3 month battle and still adding water I bit the bullet and traded it on a jap import .It's been six months but every day that goes by all I see is territories. The car I bought although has fantastic economy over 700k for 46 Lt of fuel. That is the only thing going for it as it is smaller than Terry noisier than terry rattles more than terry uglier than terry worse seating than terry and no room down beside the driver to move the bloody seat.I really do miss Terry, lucky I still have my Falcon ute.I can't turn the clock back but man that So and so mechanic has got a lot to answer for.Anyone else miss their FORD.

I love my 300c luxury.. but i some time miss the simpler things with my old BA falcon.
Cheap and easy to get parts would be one of them big things, i haven't need any parts for my 300c and hopefully i wont over the time i own it, but for example, if someone damages a side mirror in my car, it costs over 2k to replace, plus there may be wait to get it! (talk about been paranoid when parking!) where the falcon it would be a simple and cheap replacement compared. Also My BA XR6 was raw compared to the 300c, which is fun some times and i wasn't as cautions to push its limits at times, again it was easy and cheap to fix.. Only thing i don't miss is always having to repair or replace the power windows, they use to always played up! Grrrr. it didn't miss a beat thou the car it self and it had a some what of a hard life as i had it between the ages of 19-26, so it got some what of flogging at times and no traction control made it fun, but also scary in the wet at times! I6, was a great engine as well.. the low down torque was handy. would i choose my BA over my 300, no way, but it did have its advantages for sure!

Certainly miss the rush of the FG Turbo. I6 is surely one of the worlds grat 6 cylinders. To the OP a reputable wrecker here in Melbourne is selling low km complete B series engines for $400. Said he has tonnes of them he cant sell because they just dont fail. He said he couldnt keep an Alloytec V6 on the shelves. At that price you wouldnt bother repairing.

Yep - I would buy back my first XR8 ute tomorrow no questions asked. I sold it to buy an FG XR8 which I then sold to buy a house, then got another AU3 XR8 which I then sold to buy a D40 Navara as a work ute
The Navara lasted 6 months, then I bought the Ranger and the GT followed soon after. Lucky to still have 2 Fords but that first black AU would be welcome back anytime.

Yes......
Was in mourning for a few years after I lost her well before her time... That Yellow Jellybean that I bought new and drove for 10 years will have a special corner in the man cave once it's complete...

I can't believe that any mechanic would charge 4000 dollars to do head work on such a simple engine.
I also can't believe that anyone would not first get a quote? Really...replacing a head on a straight six engine ain't rocket science. you could do it on the side of the road if you were determined enough. |

Miss my '64 Compact, bought it in '69 and sold it in '72. Actually lived in it for quite a while between jobs.
Slept in it on most of the beaches between Brisbane and Port Douglas. Never gave any trouble, great to do long distances. The bloke that bought it managed to take out a bridge post not long after, idiot. |

After 15 years, I am still missing my old Coupe....... I realised recently that I have not owned a Ford in 10 years, owning a VW Golf TDI (wife's car) and an VW Amarok Which I have been throwing a lot of $$$ at.
I am now researching vehicles and hope to have another Ford Muscle car in the garage within the next 12 months. Hope to pick up a good XR to XC body. Another Coupe would be ideal. |

Should have included in the above post the head gasket should not have let go anyway.car only had 107k on it and bought it throgh ford dealer with 84k who serviced the car before pick up.they should have insisted the car be sold with warranty as I received a phone call months after buying the car questioning why no warranty, which I stated wasn, t offered genuine waranty only cheap ones that never pay up.

I really like my FG XR6, but I miss my XA GT coupe and my EL XR8. I know where the coupe is but I'll never be able to afford to buy it back again. The EL XR8 was just one of those cars I really liked. I wish I knew where it was.

I miss my DA2 LTD and my EL XR6.
The only time I strayed from the Ford camp was when I sold the LTD to buy a WB pano. As cool as that pano was, something was missing. Something didn't feel right. I came realise that I missed driving a Ford. Then when the WB started playing up, that was all the excuse I needed to give it the flick and get back into a Ford - the XR6 as it happens. I won't be making that mistake (being without a Ford) again!

I miss my BA Xr6t, she is off road for all of winter as i drive dads BA fairmont. Parents gone to europe for a holiday. Cioncidently, i drove the Xr6t today just to put petrol around the corner becuase she was low for her daily starts to keep her going & battery recharged. She felt so different, very comftoble, tight hugging the road & awesome feel. Different to the BA fairmont. Id miss this girl if i ever sold her.

I miss my old DL LTD 5.0. It was just beautiful. They have the nicest interiors, lusty v8 torque and an awesome sound system. I sold it for $5500. Top car.

Yep, I miss my FG XR6 Turbo almost everyday... Im stuck in a fleet car at the moment and keeping the XR6T when I got the Company car wasn't an option due to lack of space.. I miss the effortless grunt of the I6T..
Hoping to be able to get myself into an FH once lease is up..

I miss my old AU2 XR6. Spent so much coin on that thing but I don't want it back as the new owner was doing burnouts in it just after he drove it away!

Miss my old XD ESP!! After owning a fairly nice 302 Manual XC GXL, I swapped that for an early build XD Turbo and boy did I regret that!! Nothing but trouble for the 18months I had it and one day driving down the road I saw an XD ESP 6 cyl 4 spd sitting in a sales yard. Instant Trade
Owned that for just over twenty years, put over 600,000 kms on it in Vic, Tas, NSW, ACT, WA and finally sold it for $750.00 bucks here in SA. The one thing I really do miss - those Scheels - just so nice to sit in and yep, sold the whole car for the price of basically one of them!!! It was complete and still fairly straight but at the time - no one wanted it

Yep, I miss my 2005 BA MK2 6cyl XL Ute in a hard to get manual.
Nothing special about the car, but all the hard work in maintaining and keeping the car in working order made it special to me (as does everyone else's cars to them) Was my daily driver and work rig, pulled a 2 tonne trailer regularly with ease. Very very reliable car, only ever had to do a gearbox rebuild at 200,000kms due to some shenanigans off road. 6 years of good service came to an end in early May when a taxi pulled out in front of me. Other than that I was really happy with my first Ford, I just had to go replace it with another Falcon, a 2006 BF XR8 |

Miss my FG XR6T ute. Great car all round, not one issue from purchase to sale. Now working hard to make sure if the FZ G6ET is decent, I'll ditch my WM Caprice and get back into the boost.

Ive been driving my Subaru for 2 years now, but there are times I wish I could drive my supercharged AU again. Miss the uniqueness of how I got that car to perform and look. I also miss my EB XR8. That was a nice car. Also wish I still had my old XC GS Fairmont 4dr. In saying that, I love my Lib, its got all the modern comforts and hoots along awesome. But yeah, there is something about your old rides you wish you could relive again.
