Wowww. just bought my first ever Jap car.
A 91 Mazda RX7. Holy ****, I've been converted! I mean, it actually handles! AND doesn't break down... I think someone better kick me out of here. I'm about to join the Mazda brigade! ![]()

had no experience with rotarys, but a workmate told me the rx7 rotarys like to be warmed up , he gave his son his own rx7 that he had owned for years in good condition, and the young bloke was told to warm it up a bit in the mornings before driving off.
my workmate was pretty annoyed a couple of weeks later it was blowing oil smoke, dunno if it was coincidence, but i have heard that said about rotarys from others too. |

Mate of mine used to warm his pp rx2 up every morning at 4:30am for 15 minutes, until a neighbour threw a brick through his window.
Can't say I blame the neighbour. The sound of a rotor is a love it or hate it noise. And at 4:30 in the am, I'm firmly in the hate category. Any other time I love them. So 92? Is that an fd? Best looking Japanese car every. Still looks modern today. |

There's a reason why the Germans hand-passed it to the Japs.

Nothing wrong with Jap. Until I actually spent coin on my own car I was very much pro V8. In the end I bought a WRX
![]() ![]() From what I understand the rotors love fuel and oil but if you don't have to worry about it then who cares. I hope Mazda get on the same level with the GT-R and now the NSX and bring a modern day RX7 to the table. |

One of the best looking modern cars ever made were the series 6 RX7s, so don't mind the Mazdas. I prefer a V8 much more usable power.

I had an rx3 twenty six years ago!
By modern standards, it wouldn't compare. But in the day, it was fantastic fun and wouldn't handle half as well as your rx7. I warmed mine up every time I drove it. It never had a radio in it in the time I owned it. |

You can get kits in the States to put LS motors in them.
Now that would be really cool. |

I went from a fast taxi to a true sports cars too a few years back. Awesome! It does everything better than the ford but haul a caravan and family around. I have neither. Don't get me wrong, love my falcons. I have sheds full of them. But a falcon can never give the same kind of thrills.

Get a nice quiet muffler, carry a baseball bat. Only start after 9am and not after 6pm. You might survive.

FD RX7 with the Twin turbo should be fairly quiet though.

Handling in the FD was regarded as world-class, and it is still regarded as being one of the finest handling and the best balanced cars of all time.

The ****le engine is a amazing bit of engineering when only 100 year old piston engines are out there.
Less moving parts, I have a escort with a rotary or well im re-building it now. |
