NSW used to have this issue. I had one of those plates, but I sold the car with it.
Although because it would have been restricting revenue, I’m sure the authorities made all people with affected plates replace them. I haven’t seen a plate like that for years in NSW |

I have white on black NSW plates on my car. Although when i put them in storage to transfer to another car the rta wouldn't release them unless i got them re printed as the originals were printed in 1974 so were not reflective.
