I would think they would have been a fairly limited run with very few spares. I beleive they were the standard XR8 Alloy tailshaft but then were wraped with carbon fibre, any good tailshaft place could do this for you. But for the price, I don't really think it is needed, the alloy tailshaft can handle plenty of power

the reason i want it is so that i can remove the speed limiter, and not worry about the tailshaft breaking on me, and having a 2 piece tailshaft fitted would be very expensive, so what tailshaft's can i get that will allow me to do this

Mate your in Victoria and you want to remove the speed limiter!

Just vote the speed camera king out of office first.

Seriously better things to spend your money on.

I thought all EF/EL's got alloy tailshafts, mine is, and it ha a 195 limiter.

Have you tried calling Dana/Spicer? They balance tailshafts which would help a lot. They also made the EL GT tail-shafts, and the tail-shaft used on the EL Predator, which is meant to be the same price as an alloy tailshaft, but with far better balancing.

It would be nice to have but are you really going to do 180+ in a hurry?

Knowing ford pricing, EL GT t/s wouldnt be much more cost effective than an aftermarket/custom 2 piece would it?

It wasnt an alloy wrapped in c/fibre shaft, the two yolks were specially glued into a carbon fibre shaft, the main benefit was weight saving & balancing.
Best of all if it was to explode, all you would end up with was a mess of matted fibres.

i am not looking at doing over 180 on the road, it was mainly for events such as easternats, and if i ever decide to take my car on the track. aaron my limiter is also at 195 but that is only since ive had the chiptorque fitted. i may look into the el 185kw xr8 tailshaft

I wouldnt bother. 195 should be fine for it. Im sure ford would put the limiter in with some headroom so it could go further if it was forced to. Its not like your going to sit at 195 for minutes at a time.

I had my EB up at 230 and it didnt do anything wierd.

Are you talking about the c/fibre tailshaft?
The ELGT was the first Ford to come out with it.

Sprint may have had an Alloy tail shaft, but i dont recall it, and i know it wasnt wrapped in carbon.

Brett the ELGT shaft was wrapped alloy, not just carbon.

Why not revert back to the steel tailshafts the EB-ED? used, they aren't speed rated and I've never seen one break.. The alloy one I have seen make a nice mess of the trans tunnel after failing but it was the only one.. The guy that rebuilds my diffs told me to revert to the mild steel tailshaft if I went to 4.11 gears...
