Talking EL BBM fully functioning is now in my EA (pics inside!)

Hi all,

Well over the last weekend, I put on an EL BBM inlet and replaced my fuel pump with an EF one as well, also the main reason for pulling the car apart was to replace the timing case that had cracked/split around the crank seal.

The car now idles so smoothly and fuel consumption has come down, also it has alot more get up and go, not sure on power yet, feels more but a dyno run will confirm that answer, need a cruise control BBM cable yet as well.

Here are the pics of the finished product, and yes it is fully functioning and switches runners at 3,800rpm (or there abouts), still some tidy up left to do now that all is confirmed as working.

Pic from the front of the BBM
.

.
Pic from an angle of the BBM
.

.
Waste not want not, my old EA throttle bracket with the kickdown cable hole cut off, turned upside down, and a small trim of the throttle cable rubber is a perfect fit and alignment
.

.
Jaycar to the rescue - $35.95 and some assembly and soldering saw kit KC5378 in the car and tuned to switch the runners at 3,800rpm
.

certainly makes the engine bay look more modern.
be interesting if you can see much difference on the dyno.
being an auto they won't be able to start the run too early, prolly get about 1000rpm of long runners, should be enough to tell.

Looks good!

Just one question though......is it just me or is the way that snorkel is connected going to bypass the air filter all together???

I have a pod filter still in the box, need to make a dual intake by adding a snorkle to the bootom half of the box for more cold air, but I do have filttered intake air

nice work. you need to put an el ecu in it to match the airbox lid (or get a eb/ed 8cyl lid)

five point slow - I havent really seen a pic of the eb/ed V8 lids, do you have a pic ?

TuffEDXR - panels, rear garnsih and tail lights, the seats, door trims, interior carpert, side mirrors and switches is about all that is left of my original EA, but that tail lights and mirros will change sooner then later

Damo - if you call my engine bay clean I hate to see yours - mine needs a clean.

TIKFD6 - the kit works very well, and is the simpliest solution.

Sundeep - thanks for most of the parts, if only painting and filling side moulds happened so quick ... lol

IIRC Jase, the EB/ED V8 Airbox's are the same as the EF/EL ones just they have EEC4 on the top not EEC5 ;)
