I have seen head gaskets replaced 5 times on ea eb donks not
just myself- but my immediate friends, & never changed the bolts
as far as i am concerned-- its crap, even in the books it says
nothing about head bolt replacement.
The head being alloy should be machined (shaved) also ea ed are
prone to corossion around water inlet areas being alloy, as i have
had mine welded a few times over many years (alloy heads)
The head bolts are drop forged -its a sales pitch from engine
reconditioners. I have never changed them & had no problem.
These tossers do anything to get your dough.

Pfft......I totally agree with Jedaarr. I've done a couple of head swaps and all except one time used the same bolts. Infact I ****ed off the newer bolts for the sh*t old ones from Sunny's mum's car cause they had a better designed head on them. They worked wonders. Had 8psi, twin turb's and reg trips to 5000rpm pumpin through that head and they never complained. The motor's got no compression left but the head ain't leakin!!

The head bolts will be fine unless they have been over tightened.

All ive been told by 2 engine reconditioners who are friends that the headbolts SHOULD be changed unless they have been changed very recently.

they stretch, and for the sake of $30 just get AU ones. they have the thicker head on the bolt.
