Default Airbag question

Hey all,

Quick question; I've got the passenger airbag in the Fairmont - when the airbag is activated, which way does the flap open? Does it fold down, up or split in the middle?

I ask because I've got a dashmat on the cheap from a mate, I'll use it if it doesn't affect the airbag operation.

The passenger airbag had deployed on my EL wagon, and the whole flap lifts off/up. A properly placed dashmat won't affect its operation. I'd secure the rear of the mat at the base of the windscreen but let it sit loosely over the airbag area.

even if a dashmat is secured over an airbag i doubt it would stop the airbag

No, my concern was that the passenger would have an imprint of a cheap dashmat on his/her face for all eternity.

i thought there were dashmats made for passenger airbags instead of the normal ones that are made for a normal dash. it wouldnt stop an airbag anyway.
those sticky tabs never really stick to anything anyway.
