Hey All,
Sterpz and I have done a simple mod to our cars (EL and EB) which I thought a few of you might want to try. We got the idea from the holden commodores which some models have this. The lights we have used are actually from commodore boots and the switch is from commodore glovebox. It is very easy to setup just need to cut a bit of plastic away for both the light and the switch and wire it in so that the light turns off when you close the centre console and turns on when you open it. Makes it easy to find what you are looking for in the centre console at night. Here are the pictures of it in Sterpz EL: And in my EB: Its a nice and simple mod that turns out pretty good and looks factory for anyone wanting to try it. |

I was thinking of doing this about a week ago when I noticed my old lady's GJ Sigma has it. I was actually going to pinch the light from it when i get it lol

I've been thinking of the same kind of thing, except I was going to mount some white LEDs on the lid to shine down.
Yours looks sweet, I'm thinking of doing it that way instead.

That's a brilliant mod! Great stuff ;)
Oh, and what's the difference between an EL GT console and a GLi one?

Sterpz has an el? Where'd the ea go? :(
Another thing you can use is the numberplate light from an ef/el if you mounted it the same way as you guys have done it will shine down. Great work anyway guys

Very nice. But you're taking the fun out of trying to find $3.30 in change in the dark for the tolls.
I'll have to try this myself, looks good.

With my power window wiring I've got it wired as constantly on. So I've just tapped into the constant and earth for my power window wiring at the switches since its right there.
In sterpz car we used the head unit wiring constant and earth from that. |

Yeah if you drill straight down, the a/c pipes that run to the rear vents run directly under your console, and you can pump cold air into your console. Obviously your A/C has to be on, but would be good in summer after a long trip, just cool a few cans. |
