Love eBay. I sell stuff (well used to, haven't found time to list stuff lately, mostly clothes and cds) and use it to purchase items as well. Great place to find a bargain, buying from o/s is often way cheaper than buying retail here.

Haven't been ripped off yet, have had a couple of non-paying bidders.. but you get that.

Ebay is the sh!t. Love it.

A mate of mine sells dvd's on there (direct from distributors) and makes quite a nice amount of money outta it.

Have bought many things from ebay, sold a couple and have been scammed.... twice.
Not too happy about that, but it happens.

I still love ebay!

Mainly buy through ebay.com, that extra .au at the end can cost a fortune...

I've used it to buy and sell quite a few times. Mostly for little things though and never for car or computer parts, they are usually a rip off.

When i buy things from ebay i make sure the user is legit by asking questions and usually buy things from people who have a large feedback rating. Ive only every sold 1 thing.

I currently have 52 feedbacks 100% positive

Pacie comps - 410 (620 at jack beedhams WTF?!!), HF Cat - 100, Sanyo HU - 138 (299 at strathfield), 7" LCD screen for carputer - 150 (about 350 in jaycar).

Just got to research the stuff first and you save a ton.

It's how I make a living. Been on eBay for 3 years now. I sell and buy. Aswell as selling my own stuff, I also sell item's for a small company and make quite good commission from that. Since quitting my job, I've relied on eBay to bring in that extra cash. It helps with the bills, kids, the car etc... I also buy in bulk and re-sell. And with my partner being the only one working full-time, what I make on eBay for us takes pressure off him. I also buy quite alot too and I've never ever had a problem with a buyer or seller.

Thats why I said usually..
I can probably give 20 examples of ripoffs to 1 bargain.
Sure, there are some bargains no doubt but wallowing through all the rice crap and ripoffs make it hard to bother looking anymore.

ive just bought the lastest model NEC dual layer burner for $105 which is pretty cheap. also looking at getting a radio scanner and actually found one that has all the features i wanted (except trunking but thats ok), for the price i wanted. asked all the questions about it and didnt get a reply. checked again today and the item has ended early with no bids and still a day and a half to go.
pretty disappointing when people do this. if you want a set price then put a god damn reserve on it instead of removing it coz you think no one is interested in it. i was gonna wait till the last minute to make sure i got it.
next time i find something i want ill put a dollar bid on it to make sure.

wont make any difference a seller can get out of the deal even when a bid has been placed he /she justs needs a good excuse which isn't hard to make up e.g i sold it elsewhere, my son broke it , its been stolen etc etc

eBay is great BUT...never, and I mean never use Western Union to pay. If you do, you WILL be scammed. I know from personal experience, and a mate of mine also got scammed via WU. How....they just need fake ID which is not that hard to get, to claim the cash. Nobody can trace them after that.

Got that right. Oh yeah and you gotta love the buyers from Singapore and so on. I always get emails saying "hi i am being pleased to like purchase 50 of you phone you are having to selling on ebay and like to pay it $900 each one for business company function award night" and so on... LOL. I always reply the same way "take your scam elsewhere!!"

Yep, I use it to buy and sell stuff

I believe I am in the process of being scammed, waiting for a mobile that has yet to turn up - and I believe it was falsely advertised. It stated colour screen and I bid on it, not expecting to win ( I never win on mobiles! lol I never have quite enough money) but I actually did with this one. I bid at the last minute.

BUT I didn't really look properly, cos when I won it I checked out the pic again to find that it looked like it actually has a b&w screen. So I typed the model into a search engine, low and behold it says it's b&w. So I contacted the guy, no response. Contacted Ebay, they are investigating it.

I would not have paid nearly $50 for a b&w phone, for sure. And then when I checked him out fully, I discovered he has a no star rating. F@#K!

So yeah, that's my first major issue in over a year trading on ebay. I mainly use the .au one cos something that seems like a bargain in Yankee dollars turns a bit nasty after postage and conversion to Aussie moulash.

I buy and sell on ebay and have been scammed twice. Both were games and the first I didn't pay because he wouldn't answer my emails and then I found he was from Hong Kong, then ebay removed him because a flood of bad feedback came in from bidders that had paid for other products. Second was a seller from Tasmania that sold me a game that is in 100% working condition (it never worked) and after two months and numerous emails I gave up and gave him bad feedback. After he saw that then he wanted to do something about it (so I would withdraw my feedback) but I never replied to him. Ebay is great there are only a few bad eggs on there from time to time.
