Default Any good wreckers around Clayton?

Even though I've lived up here for over a year, I still don't really know the area that well. The part I need to get is an Ambient Temperature Sensor (part of the climate control). I went to a Ford dealer and they quoted just over $50. Without it, the climate control works but has absolutely no consistency in the temperatures. I'm sure through the wreckers, I could get the part for much cheaper. I'm also looking at replacing my front right indicator, which has lots of cracks and has been filling with water.

Does anyone recommend any wreckers around here?

Is there actually a place dedicated to Fairmont parts? Sounds good. Thanks for the help

You could also try Ford Auto Salvage, 121 Westall Rd, Clayton. Ph: 9547 8422. Huge range of parts there.

Thanks a lot. Also, just wondering, is the ambient temp sensor from the EA Ghia the same as other models or do later models have a different sensor?

Thanks for all the replies. Now I have to find the time to actually go and get one (and hope that nothing else goes wrong with the car - honestly my climate control is possessed. A blocked heater core, a dodgy heater tap, and a useless amb temp sensor - all showing up around a similar time!)

Well, I've now got a working ambient temp sensor. Thanks for the help. I tried Ford Auto Salvage on Westall Rd. but they didn't have any. So I went to Centre Road Self Serve and got one off an NA Fairlane. $15 is hell of a lot better than over $50. It works. My climate control doesn't display any error messages anymore when I do a test. Hopefully the last of my troubles. Gee it's fun trying to find where the sensor screws onto the car! Talk about making it as hard as possible to find. When it started raining, I gave up so the sensor can dangle for now.

: Where were you looking? There were E-series everywhere. There was 2 massive lines of them. There certainly wasn't any shortage of them.

Might be worth a visit there then, they let you get the parts yourself ?

NOW go get an EB climate control so you can see the ambient temp at the touch of a button

Yep. It's self serve. I saw a couple of blokes walk in with wheelbarrows. Basically, anything you take in, they mark so they know it's already yours. Just wander around and try to remove parts from the wrecks.

As for the EB climate control, as good as it would be, I'm a bit of a cheapskate at the moment. I need to spend money on more important things, like rent and getting my tranny serviced. I got my new turboblade centre caps yesterday (from ed i6) so that improves the appearance of the car. The engine also looks a treat after its recent degrease.

Here you go. The rocker cover's losing a bit of paint off the top and I don't like the look of the battery but other than that, it's pretty decent. That oil down the front was so thick it left a small stain but I went through a whole can of degreaser on it.
